Textbook not required
My professor doesn't require a textbook so for the most part this book is collecting dust. I have used the nutrition charts in the back and read some of the chapters. I can't complain, it covers a lot of information, but readers need to be prepared for the reality that they are reading a science textbook.Nutrition is the study of chemicals and their effects on the body. Do not expect to pick up this book and find a simple answer about creating a meal-plan. Expect this book to explain the chemicals which foods are composed of and then how your body will break them apart and use them to function.

this edition even better than my older version
I purchased this book about 15 years ago at a college textbook store for my own interests. With all of the diet books around and doctors selling books about how the body is supposed to work (eat this but only after you eat that, never eat this, carbs are bad, fat is bad), a good nutrition is book really is all you need to swim through the muck and sail into clearer waters. This updated version was less that $20 and worth every penny. Lots of great updated information while still retaining the just-the-facts approach. This book was worn, but not written in and arrived within a week of ordering (regular shipping).

Outstanding Information
I bought this for a class I was taking but have found it to be a great tool for my life as well. I refer back to it quite often and was even able to buy the digital version and download it to my iPod for constant reference. The digital version takes practically no space on teh iPod but has all the same information, pictures, tables, graphs, and table of contents as the book and is also searchable. I would recommend this book to anyone that is interested in health and diet. This is not a diet book - it is a reference book.

Satisfied
I actually got this book in the mail waaay before it was even supposed to be shipped to me. So I was very pleased about that. The book came in good condition even with a couple sticky notes in there. There is no supplemental material in this book is I'm sure I could have gotten at the college bookstore but I don't think that will be a challenge.

Good book
Very thorough and informative. I read this for my Nutrition class and I learned a LOT!!! Make sure you have at least a basic understanding of Biology & Anatomy and Physiology, or else you might get confused and the class will be a lot harder for you. However, I loved the book and I made an A in the class.... So it worked out for me!!!Great book! :]

Excellent Condition!!
I bought this book for my daughter for her summer school nutrition class. It's always a gamble when you are purchasing used books online. However, the seller's description was completely accurate!! It arrived in excellent condition & was hardly used. Not all marked up & highlighted like the ones at the college campus bookstores. The seller was extremely fast in responding to my email questions & was able to get the book to me speedily. I would purchase from this seller again!

Still Relevant
Though this is 2010 edition, the content is still very relevant to 2012. Also, to keep in touch with the latest in nutrition, its advisable to pay attention to class instructor's notes since they are usually up to date. For instance, the book make reference to 'my pyramid' where as 'my plate' is the latest trend. The author sound very objective when addressing nutritional issues from various parts of the world. There is no condemnation or superiority of one food culture over the other.
