Interesting Twist Makes It Better (Spoiler Alert)
What makes this a fun read is not the sex (pretty good), but the twist that happens about 2/3 of the way through the book. The last chapters where brought me in because we know that there might be something with the maju paste, but not exactly what it might be.For .99, this was a fun read that couldn't put down, once I skipped through some of the excess sex parts. Culturally, it makes sense that two very different alien races (Humans and Caldorians) would have different romantic practices and understandings. Could Dagan have asked a few more questions? Sure. Could Sasha have demonstrated far more self-confidence once she got her sexy groove on? Absolutely. Put two people who are hurting for different reasons (Sasha has one very obvious one and a not so hidden one; Dagan just has expectations based on his own culture) and you have this book. What I liked:a) humor - The play on words and the misunderstandings where, as a reader, you understand that it is hilarious to the Caldorians, but sheer confusion to Sasha.b) the unique Caldorian mating/marriage ritual: I won't look at a blindfold the same way again.c) the twist on the paste: things that you don't quite see coming that really make the story more interesting.d) the introduction of the Lumerian Knights, the entire glowing orb scenarioe) just one of my favorite lines: "And by suitable structure.... he means a proper castle that can be seen from space." - Who doesn't like someone whose idea of home is something the size of half a planet? What I didn't like:a) The sex just after the beginning for Sasha and Dagan. It was not nearly as gratifying as it was later on when tied to purpose and intent. We already know that she's hot for him and vice-versa. What made the sex really hot was when there was a surprise element that she clearly loved. He didn't want to hurt her with his size; she didn't want to hurt him with her insecurities. This part of the sex made it much better instead of just swapping body parts.b) Scenes mentioned that are not on the page. I kept flipping back a few times to a scene Dagan mentions about when he meets Sasha for the first time and she runs. My problem? We never see that scene on the page.c) A few minor loose ends that could have been easily wrapped up, such as what really might be going on with Rachel's sister, since the three women are besties, so Sasha would want to know.d) The sword is intriguing. More will come up in a later book; however, it is a strange way to end a book. Sasha is asking questions and it makes sense that these will be answered. More could have been added to fully wrap up the last chapter and the book.e) The whole Earth Treaty and other items that are vaguely explained, but not to the point of understanding the precautions that Dagon continues to take. There is also the question of security and why they did not know before that the perimeter could be so easily breached.Overall, I spent about 4 hours or so reading this book and truly loving the ride. If the following books were not $5 a piece, or if they were on KU, I would pick up the next book automatically.----Final Judgement:I'll be back. I like the author's humor. I don't like the price of the books, but I do love the characters. When I have finished digesting this one, maybe I'll pick up another in a month or two.

Great Start (but thought it needed a little more background)
I grabbed a copy of this book on one of my favorite author's recommendations (Grace Goodwin is awesome, so check out her books).I really liked this book but I will admit that it felt like being thrown into the deep end of a pool, unexpectedly. It opens as everyone is gathering for the binding ceremony of a human to a Caldorian with very little background given as to why the aliens are here and how Rachel and Cam came together (sort of like missing the very first book in a series and coming in at book 2). The Lumerian Knights are introduced right away but once again very little background is given about them (and they cause a plot hole at the end of the story). Now to all the good things:The Caldorians seem like just another alien species that comes to protect the Earth and exchange technology - in this case mostly medical cures and food replicators - and they have really cool markings (kind of like tattoos with special properties). It's the introduction of the king's bodyguards - the Lumerian Knights - that were the absolute frosting on the cake. Dagan and Sasha do the alien/human misunderstanding each others' customs thing. Dagan really screws up and his Lumerians step in to save the day and bring about one of the most fascinating developments in the story - what happens when a human is introduced to alien substances? Sasha goes from being the timid little introvert to an "on her way to being awesome" queen (she's getting there, but doesn't quite reach kick-ass confidence by the end of the book - hopefully, book #2).I'm not one for steamy $ex scenes but this book has plenty. It was great to see (that for once), the main characters had to work at it - she's 5'3 and tiny, while he is around 7' and with equipment to match his size.I can't wait to see where the author takes these characters from here but I will definitely be here waiting to see what happens next. (I really have my fingers crossed that he author gives us a little prologue that gives us Rachel and Cam's story, the intro of the Caldorians on Earth, and the legend of the Lumerian Knights),Grab a copy and enjoy!

It’s a quick read
I’m not sure if I liked this book or not. The ending was rather abrupt and the h wasn’t very likable. I mean seriously, your best friend gives you all sorts of warnings about these aliens. About how serious and possessive they are and how you shouldn’t make eye contact or you are bound to be claimed. Then you have sex with one and he has you repeat what he said to you so that you will have a clear understanding of his actions. Then he tells you over and over that you belong to him and that he is going through the claiming period to formalize the bonding. The girl, Sasha, gets upset because she didn’t understand that he wanted her as his mate? Either she is really really stupid or she is just not listening and he had her repeat what he said! Anyway, I had trouble getting past that point in the story. The H was likeable and he made it very clear throughout the story what his end goal was and I wondered what he saw in her. Seriously, she was really dumb. I want a h who is smart and sassy and acts with intelligence. I’m giving the story 3 stars because I think the Author shows promise and if she is able to tweak her heroines to act with intelligence and not to be dumb bimbos, I think that she could create a likeable series. Sorry this is such a harsh review, but I really did not like how the h acted through out the story. But if you want a story with great sex scenes, this one is for you.Edit: I’ve read the next 2 books of the series. This authors story telling is improving with each book. I’ve reached the third book in this series and even with some editing problems in the next 2 books, the stories are getting better and more enjoyable. There is still a lot of sex in the books, so beware of that if it bothers you, but after reading the 3 books that she has published I think that I’m going to continue to read her books.

Confusing
I found this story really confusing despite the fact it actually has great potential. Confusion starts with the heroine; is she shy and submissive or strong and sassy? Perhaps a mix of both but it's hard to know. Dagan is the King but although he desires Sasha he never fully explains anything to her, his ways, his traditions, so when she make a fopar he half heartedly attempts to punish her with spanking - why? she has no idea. I thought there were good ideas in the book and definitely parts that could have been explored further which ultimately could have enlightened the reader more. The whole attack scene is too mixed up with Sasha becoming ill and the whys of it, that both part feel rushed and not exained. A good start but definitely room for improvement.

I've read so many books, yet this was different enough to stand out in a GOOD way!.
Ridiculous premise - undeniably hot alien king, and terrified, bit broken human woman you can't help but waqnt to shake a bit here and there based upon stupid ill thought through choices she makes. Especially with how long she spends runnign away and not too the alien who is red hot for her. Some sweetness, some humour, lots of debauchery, some voyerism! I've read so many books, including the alien romances yet this was different enough to stand out.Happily downloaded a good few more from this author to see if others live up to this one.

Interesting
This author shows huge potential and created a very imaginative story with lovely lead characters, my only issue is that in trying to integrate so many different elements, from the mild BDSM elements to different aliens to the characters to the story, that none were as fully explored, leaving more questions than answers. Hopefully the next will be more explanatory and more developed. That being said this was still a very good read.

New Author, Positive start
I like the story to this book and want to continue reading the series. I think the Author is along the right lines with the story and you certainly get into it fairly quickly. For those reviews that are fairly critical, I would think you need to be a new author and write and let us see how easily and how well your first one is. I applaud this author and following, I am happy to say I look forward to reading more and sure the style will develop with experience.

Good start to the series
Liked this story for its whimsical chocolatey romance. A touch of alien hotness, big dashes of alpha male, syrupy sweet human and some salty villains put in some magic, space, sci fi tech you have the makings of a good story. It was a bit slow in the middle but got really interesting and exciting towards the end. So hoping to read more of that lumerian power source, now that gave the story some zing.
