It really does talk. You just need your phone to make it happen. Otherwise it works perfect without being connected to anything in any way. Passed the nickle test. Doesn't feel cheap and the scale area is large enough to hold a light weight bowl for larger quantites.

Overall great scale, NEEDED a calibration upon arrival, has been good and accurate since.Using for weighing coffee beans and espresso shots.BT espresso/coffee app is pretty delayed, and the timer doesn’t shut off automatically once the weight stops. So I don’t really use the app.Scale has a minor delay but you can usually compensate for it with timing, I shut the valve off about 2 grams before my target weight during an espresso pull.Wish it had a battery meter, but it is rechargeable, and the charge last for quite a while, months for my small daily use.Considering the prices of other espresso/coffee scales, this is an amazing price for what you get if you don’t mind using it as purely a scale without the app.

app on android is a little janky, but it does work, but this unit is a great value!

If I was just reviewing scale alone, I would give it 5 stars. However Apps for it is nothing but a terrible attempt at collecting user data for no reason at all. Let's tart with main "App" if you can call it that. It's just a page with shortcuts to other apps! Not a functional piece of software! And on top of that it wants to access your Camera, Microphone, Location and Health data. I bought my scale to count various fasteners and small parts. So after I installed garbage main app and realize it's not an app at all, I was able to install counting app. Guess what, to count parts, you have have an online account! Why? It doesn't work without creating one. After that it works but a bit confusing and not intuitive in the beginning. Overall it's usable, and thus I give it 3 start all together.

I bought this instead of an identical scale for less than 1/2 the price because of the promised app. There is no android app in the play store and the link on their web page returns a "not found" error. After not even reading my support requests for the first three times, support finally agreed that there was no app in the play store and that the link was broken but still didn't provide an app. All future requests for an app on my end have been ignored by the "online support team"

Bought this as a cheap scale to measure espresso flow rate. Like you'll find in other reviews, the app is a riot. But whatever, easy enough to find what I needed. I'll note that the android app was much buggier than the the iphone app. For instance, on the pourover app on the android, you could not swipe right from the recipe to get to the flow graph. And on the espresso app, you cannot alter the shot time (25 sec). Both of these features appear to be there (because the menu says that it should happen) but just don't. But they work on the iphone. And neither of these are why I returned the scale.I was able to get a live readout of the flow rate, but it was way off. The scale itself is accurate. But while the weight in the cup was clearly rising by about one gram (or a little more) each second, during the 25 sec that yielded 36g, the flow rate never displayed more than 0.6g/sec. This was true on both the iphone and and android. I don't know if flow rate is computed on the scale or on the phone. I suppose it must be on-scale if I was the only person having this issue. I did try the on-screen chat, but it was a saturday and unsurprisingly no one answered.In the end, seemed accurate as a scale and useless as a flow indicator---meaning you might as well get a $10 scale or pay more for the Timemore Basic Pro (which I believe is the cheapest scale with a working flow rate indicator)

I am visually impaired, and I needed a talking scale and this scale worked perfectly for my needs. I had previously purchased two talking Scaleels made specially for the blind but they are much more expensive and they break down easily. The app works perfect it has a function to read out loud the weight and it does it perfectly. I still have to see about durability. I’ve only had it for a week. Even if it does break down the price is Better then a talking scale for the blind Plus I use the scale much more than an average person does. I use It Two way herbs Because i have a herbal shop.
