SHOP FOX M1014 7-Inch by 12-Inch Metal Bandsaw

It does exactly what I was hoping it would do.

The Shop Fox band saw works well for the money - we use it 8+ hours a day for the past 3 years cut big bars of aluminum and steel for use with our CNC machines. The coolant pump works fairly well (we added a secondary chip screen in the chip tray) and the blade it ships with is coarse and cuts aluminum quickly. If you need to cut steel look for a finer tooth blade; we will keep blades on had for both materials. The speed range is large, the hydraulics are easy to set, and the cuts have been straight and true. We break blades every 8-10 hours of use, so keep them handy. We have found that a 10-14 TPI blade works best on steel and a 4-6 TPI works best on solid aluminum (we cut up to 5.5" billet 6061-T6). Add a little cutting coolant to the water to keep the blade lubricated and also keep the coolant from getting "funky".Paid $1250 shipped, and it was worth that. We have replaced the 90 deg gearbox once ($450) and after 3 years this one is about used up again - but we're using this machine in an industrial setting, cutting solid metal billet 8 hours every work day. For a hobbyist this is a great band saw, but for a working shop you might want something more robust.

I love the saw. Cuts like a hot knife through butter but if you ever need parts for it, good luck.Mine didn’t come with a screen filter to catch the shavings so I tried to order one. After several days and emails, I give up. None of the dealers recognize the part number that’s in the instruction manual.I’ll just make one myself.4 stars because next time I need a piece of equipment, Shop Fox will be the last one I’ll consider.

Great saw but you can get the EXACT same saw made in the EXACT same factory without shop fox’s badge on it at Harbor Freight for $899. I have used both, I know from being hands on that the color is the only difference.
