Michael McDonald (MADtv, Austin Powers, Kathy Griffin โ My Life on the D-List) returns home to Orange County for his debut stand-up comedy special: MODEL. CITIZEN. In this hilarious, one-hour performance, Michael shares his views on a variety of topics from fame to family and gives the audience a peek at the seemingly normal person behind the whacked out personae he has developed for television (including his famous role as Stuart the baby). Part stand-up comedy, part one man show, this special is for anyone who โ like Michael โ finds humor in the strange world all around us.

Great Storyteller ...
I liked watching Michael McDonald on MADTv so I thought I'd give this a watch. Glad I did. The show didn't have a lot of raucous laugh-out-loud moments, but a lot of smile and chuckles. He kept the show moving with funny storytelling. And, before I knew it, the show was over - wish it would have been longer.

His microphone sucked so bad, I couldn't get through 15 minutes. Clanging aftertones on every line. I'm also not easily offended but his references towards Muslims and Iraqis didn't feel like humor to me. I'm white, raised Christian, so it isn't because I, myself, am Middle Eastern, it just didn't come across "in good fun" as some comics are able to do. He started strong though... Can't say how the rest of it went.

His brilliance does not show in the performance.
I saw the Phoenix show that Michael refers to in this video, and having seen that I'd put him in a close race for funniest man alive, along with Louis CK and Jim Norton. However, this show wasn't nearly as good. Michael toned it down and cleaned it up for this performance. He looked out of place in this variety-show hall, and seemed at times to play awkwardly to the camera. I recommend skipping this DVD and catching him live at a comedy club.

great set
I, unlike what seemed like most of the audience, am not a big fan of Mad TV, but this guy is great on and off the show

Great comedian. Love his confidence!
Good set. "Hi, I'm Pat Elliott!" That last part was an excellent finish to me! Need more.

Amusing
Amusing but not really very funny. McDonald is a master of skit comedy, but not a great stand-up.

Called it
Anyone catch how he totally called Bruce Jenner's transition, five years before it was official?

what happened?
I've seen him do so much better, this was almost an embarrassment. Don't bother. I'm so sorry I bought this.
