Not the old heavy crockpot we all hated!
This is not your old style crockpot! This is SO lightweight, very easy to clean, and cooks really well. Yesterday I made bbq with a huge piece of chuck roast, washed it out quickly and set some chicken bones to simmer ALL night, just strained it, added chicken and veggies and set to low and we will have amazing soup for dinner. I love that you can use the inner crock on the stove top to brown and then put it right into the cooker. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

So far so good
The ceramic lining of my 25 year old crock pot cracked so I needed a new crockpot. The company that made my old one no longer makes crockpots. I chose this crockpot because 1). It is the same size as my old crockpot 2). I wanted to have multiple cook times/temperature settings. This review is for the 33662, not the one that locks. When it arrived I was a little worried because it was so light, but definitely a plus over my old crockpot. I was a little concerned that the insert is non-stick aluminum since my last one was ceramic. I have used this crockpot three times so far. I usually use the crockpot 2-3 times a month. I am actually very happy with the light weight nonstick aluminum insert. I used liners in the past but with this crockpot they are not necessary (so far). It cleans up very fast. The light weight also makes it easier to handle while cleaning. My only concern is that the crockpot seems to cook things hotter/faster than my old crockpot and I have had to adjust the cooking times for some recipes but knowing that and adjusting is a minor issue. Because of how light it is I do worry about it’s longevity but I don’t expect anything to last like they used to. Overall I am happy with the purchase.

I like it
I needed a new slow cooker after my very old, wonderful and heavy crockpot finally died. I decided to try this Hamilton Beach model based on reviews and videos. Today I made a 3.6 pound pot roast with potatoes, carrots and celery. Pros: 1) the roast and vegetables came out perfectly cooked. 2) the entire cooking time was slightly less than my older crock pot. 3) this slow cooker is extremely light. 4) clean up was very easy. I did not put it in the dishwasher. 5) I really liked the different setting options. Big improvement over my previous cooker. 6) I thought the price was great. Cons: 1) the electrical cord is quite short. I had to do a lot of maneuvering to get it close enough to reach the under counter outlet. 2) the outside is very hot to the touch. So was my older one, but this one seemed hotter. 3) it seems much smaller than my previous 6 qt cooker and it was definitely shallower. I had to cut my 3.6 pound roast in half to get it to fit along with the vegetables. It will be interesting to see if it will cook a whole small turkey. 4) I do wonder how it will hold up over time. Especially the non stick coating. I really made sure not to scrape the bottom or sides when removing the roast and vegetables. If it lasts 5-10 years I will be happy.

Light weight!
Love, love, love this crockpot! I bought one for my sister and have been jealous of it for a few years. My old heavy crock pot finally broke so I finally bought this one. It is so light and easy to wash because it is not heavy ceramic. Also like that can put it on the stove to brown meat or put in the oven to warm leftovers faster. Just don’t put the lid in the oven or the handle will melt, just ask my sister.

Good option
Works just as good as you would want. Simple but does the job. I really like the light weight.

Great slow cooker
I am surprised I don't see this more often... this is a great crock pot/slow cooker. It is lightweight (I have weak wrists so this has been amazing!), the stove top safe function is AMAZING I love being able to sear meat right in the pot before transferring it to the slow cooker. It is non stick which makes cleaning it SO easy even after cooking something for hours it's not a pain to get clean. I was concerned it might be too small but it's been perfect to cook for my family of 6 (with big appetites). It also isn't too bulky for storing... overall just love it. I do wish the handles were a little bigger to allow pot holders to be used more easily when transferring the pot from the stove to the slow cooker but definitely recommend this one if you are looking for an upgrade or to make meal time easier!

Disappointed buyer
Very disappointed in quality of this crockpot for price. Had a previous HB that was more substantial, and that I liked for stovetop browning. Even tho this new one functions the same, it is flimsy and cheap…

Love the versatility of stovetop to crock pot!
I really do have to say I'm loving the ability to sear meat and and saute vegetables on the stove and transfer it right to the crock-Pot with no added dish or dishes in between. The pot does get hot on the stove, requiring potholders to hold it steady and stirring and transferring the pot back into the crock pot heating part. I did notice that the interior scratched bit when I stored it with the plug inside of it. I'm being sure not to use any metal utensils. I'm on those people that search and read reviews, organizing over a decision over the course of days. So cut to the chase for those like me, yes I would recommend it. It is different from your regular crock pot. But the convenience and electronic features combined to make this a great deal.

Nope! Stovetop does not mean gas stove. And coating started to peel.
Spent a lot of time researching for a Stovetop Sear Slow Cooker. If it said can't use for a gas stove we missed it. After only a few uses as just a slow cooker the coating began to peel off around the edge. Have returned. And still no refund. :(
