The Vanishing Pumpkin

Cute tale of an old man and old woman, each hundreds of years old, looking for the person that stole their big pumkin. Just as they were going to pick it to make pie, it vanished. They go to see the ghoul, and show they have ways to make you talk. You see they are both witches with very old power. They go to see the rapscallion, and even the varmint. But no one knows who took their pumpkin. They finally meet up with a powerful wizard, even older than they are. Will they find their pumpkin in time to make pumpkin pie?Some repetitive lines and rhyming make this a nice book for reading to the younger ones, and not scary at all. Good story to go to sleep with. Terrific art work and colors by the great Tommi de Paola. I reccommend.

Awesome! my 7 yr old and I love the telling of this story on the cassette. Also his older cousins enjoyed it as well! The characters do all sound different, it was amusing & realistic. Of course, we have the book to follow along too. But the cassette was a very nice addition to the book!

This was one of my favorite books when I was a kid and I read it with my sister until it was close to falling apart and its story has stayed with me through the years. To this day, rapscallion is a favorite word to sprinkle about in a festive manner. When I found out I was going to be an aunt, the first thing I did was look for our old favorite books but was disappointed to find they had been lost in time. Another story with a happy ending all thanks to Amazon. Now I get to pass on a piece of my sister's and my childhood to my little nephew and enjoy this book for years and years to come.

Good condition...this was one of my favorite childhood stories when I was younger and I couldn't find it anywhere. So glad I was able to find it on amazon, along with other childhood stories I enjoyed.

This is a quirky book about a 700 year old woman and an 800 year old man, that first sentence just sets a fit of giggles when we read it. They wanted to make pumpkin pie but there is one major piece missing; their pumpkin. So they set off to find it and along the way run into a collection of various people. At the end of this adventure will they find their pumpkin and ultimately make their pumpkin pie?If you are looking for a Fall book to add to your collection this is a wonderful addition. Tony Johnston's words coupled with Tomie DePaola's illustrations makes for a wonderful combination.
