Where are the specs on the bit? A history of the company doesnt help me decide if this bit meets what i am looking for?

will this bit cut a 1/4" recess in a 3/4" red oak board? the recess has to be 3" x 4".

This is my bit of choice. This bit makes a good clean cut. So you are cutting a 3" x 4" 0.25" deep?

does this bit cut acrylic like Plexiglas and leave a good edge?

This bit will cut acrylic, however a o-flute bit would be better suited. Any bit you use will probably still leave some visible signs of cutting, the edge can then be polished or some people use a torch to smooth the finish. The key is getting the correct chipload and making sure the part is held firmly.
