A classic
I was not going to have a garden. Wanted no part of it. A friend said she'd help me get it started and maintain it, and now I'm hooked. I bought this book - a true classic - and it has helped me prep the garden, think about what grows well in my area, put the garden to bed for winter, and get psyched up again for the next growing season. I'd love to go bigger in the garden, but I live in a City and don't have the yard space. However, I had great little crops and this book is a valuable part of my collection.

Loved the book and miss the show something awful
Loved the book and miss the show something awful! (RIP Bob) Its a very well done book...excellent photos and even the drawings are well done. Like how it covers from month to month with everything Bob was growing. The pest section is well done too (he does try to avoid the use of pesticides and offers methods on how to do it) and has a container section which is how I grow all our stuff now. So glad I found this book plus a few Utube videos with Bob hosting it.

As Expected
In great shape for a used book, just wish I'd realized it was used before buying it. All in all I'm very happy.

My gardening bible!
This is my gardening bible! I love that it is divided by month and that it shows what to do all year long. Amazing book! I wish Bob Thomson was still alive so I could meet him. I live in MD so my timeline is a little earlier than his.I gave the book to my cousin in NY who was then inspired to create wonderful raised beds and enrolled in farm school and became active in urban gardening.I have many other gardening books and I'm always disappointed because they aren't as good as this!

Every Gardener's first book
I bought these two to give away to some young novice gardeners. Thompson moves a bit away from the Crockett's original towards more natural and advanced techniques. Either book is a great place to start gardening. Being much closer to an organic gardener myself, there are just so many basic skills and orienting skills included that this is still the first gardening book I recommend, along with a subscription to Mother Earth News or a Rodale catalog.

Great Book for New England
I live in New England and I LOVE this book. It has beautiful photos and month by month instructions that tell me what to do when. I alsohave the original Crockett's Victory Garden book but he uses non-organic methods which the new one doesn't. There are a few foods missing that I grow and he doesn't, so I added my own notes from my experiences with them. Not a big deal.

... my son-in-law and I think it will be a good source of information for him
This was a gift for my son-in-law and I think it will be a good source of information for him. I had gotten a copy of this gardening book decades ago and refer to it often. I feel it is a good gardening information go-to source.

Victory Garden
Great basic gardening book. The only negative for me living in Canada I am further north than the book was written for so have to adjust the recommended planting times.
