Great Expectations
The book arrived early last week and since then I have been able to read it ... twice! After watching the online promo videos and hearing the good news about it from colleagues, my excitement and expectations were high going in. It sure did not disappoint. I thought I had been networking but just felt something was missing. Now I see what it was.To me, the best chapter had to be "Detours vs. Dream Killers." It just spoke right to my current situation and nearly every page now has notes in the margins. Not only did it have the great reminder that we are all designed for maximum purpose, but gave the encouragement to not park our dreams. The Mike Singletary motivational talk, Tom Dooley quote (Be who you is), and the Johnny Cash story definitely make the message come alive. A very special line I will never forget is "your windshield is a whole lot bigger than your review mirror."Having long ago resolved to not as you put it to "live life as a counterfeit because you aced the interview," I am very thankful to have read the book and have my passion reignited. Having spent the past year surrounded by graduating MBA's who were accepting six-figure jobs in a variety of fields was a tempting distraction and caused me question my direction. With my dream of a career in collegiate athletics, I truly hope to cross paths cross with Mr Beaudine in the future. It would give me an opportunity to shake his hand and mean that I am still doing something right with my life.

A Time for Reflection
Everything happens for a reason and sometimes it is hard to remember that when a lot of "everything" is happening to you. After dealing with three major life-changing situations in a relatively short period of time in 2008, I was having trouble moving forward. A friend (one of my Who) sent me the Power of Who and what a thoughtful and wonderful gift it turned out to be.Mr. Beaudine's words and stories seemed to speak directly to me providing encouragement and a much needed time for reflection - remembering my own strategically placed relationships and how important it is to reach out to those that truly care about you. The Power of Who provides a great framework for thinking about the people in your life and their role (Chapter 3). Another great piece of advice was to be clear about what you want - people can help you when you can describe what you need in specific terms. My most favorite part of the book was Charlie the shoe shine man's blessing on page 163, which I read daily as a constant reminder to appreciate and nurture the many gifts of friendship I have been blessed with.Everyone should read the Power of Who, no matter what your present situation is. Whether you are in need of assistance and/or are in a position to help someone else, this book can put you on the right track. It is a great affirmation that the people in our lives are the most important treasure we have.

Simple, yet profound way to change your thinking
Bob Beaudine does an excellent job of re-defining the much talked about subject of networking and how to utilize the people you already know (your WHO) to help you get what you want and accomplish your goals. When I first started reading the book, I started going through my rolodex asking myself "Who does this person know that can help me accomplish my goal, help me through this struggle, bring me encouragement, inspiration and joy?".By the time I finished the book, I was going through my rolodex asking myself "Who and what do I know that can help this person accomplish their goals, work through their struggles, bring them encouragement, inspiration and joy?"...the latter being a much better question to ask and a much better way to live. This is one of those rare books that I've read and am now giving away as gifts to friends and associates.

We're all connected
It's true. We already know everyone we need to know in order to be successful. And if we don't know them, we know people who know them. Always have an open mind. The person you know may not have the information you need to accomplish something, but they might know someone who does or they may know of someone else who can help you.

Inspiring start ... Torturous rest
First of all. The 3 stars are for the book's content which is superficial, boring and about 70% unnecessary...The possibility of the approach mentioned is exciting ... Which is why this book can be Bought
