Update 2: got a replacement part on the way. Maybe I was too forceful with the first one. Will update later on the new pieceUpdate November 2022: press is bent and useless nowPrior to using this press I was using an F clamp. It had a wobbly end on one side and a rubber end on the other. It barely got the job done and it made the assembly process very trickyThis press however makes it a breeze. I recommend assembling the pen tip first, then the twist device followed by the collar. Then remove that part and assemble the top of the pen separately. The dowels make this super easy. Once done, combine both parts into a pen.

No frills, works great, will last a long time.
Nothing fancy but I've been using this model for over 5 years (I needed a second press) and it works great. A little bit hard on the end of the barrel when pressing fragile closed end pens (use padding) but it's cheap, simple and works great.

Great pen press
I have been using clamps to assemble pens up until now, but had to mass produce a bunch of them so I splurged on this.What a difference it makes! It has made pen assembly much easier and more precise. Saves about 5 minutes per pen, but with several dozen pens, that is significant. Highly recommend.

WAY easier than using a clamp in my hand
I'm in the process of helping our woodturner group make 1,000 pens for the vets. Unfortunately for me, i can't do anything halfway... so I've been making a LOT of pens =) my hands can't handle all the clamping I was doing with my adjustable shop clamp so I decided to make my life easier.Especially important to me is the control I have while inserting the twist mechanism into the front tube.Using my old way of assembly, I had to go VERY slowly and make sure it was set JUST perfectly... just proud of the notch in the twist mechanism. My hands would start hurting after just two of these a day. (yep! I'm a wimp)This assembly jig is AMAZING!!! the extender rod on the clamp makes it not only very easy to push things together but incredibly easy to judge exactly where to stop while inserting this twist mechanism!
