Anjunabeats 9

Anjunabeats is a solid dance album
Anjunabeats Volume 9 is the second Anjunabeats album that I've purchased, with Volume 8 being the first. I like Volume 9 a bit better, although my preference is primarily due to the strength of the track 'Kate' by Arty. Other tracks I like include 'New Dawn' by Oliver Smith, 'Keep your Secrets' by Molly Bancroft, and 'Mozart' by Mat Zo. All of the tracks on the album are good, however. As a side note, I typically prefer tracks with no words because I listen to music while working and don't want to be distracted. The Anjunabeats compilations include both a continuous mix track as well as the individual tracks, which makes them a great value. Unfortunately, the individual tracks are just clipped versions of the mix, so you get pieces of other tracks at the beginning and end of each individual track--hence just four and not five stars. Still, Anjunabeats is a great value and definitely worth your dance-music money.

Best music purchase in years...
With a lot of Techno/Trance/House/etc. CD's, I need to warm up to them a bit before I really get into them. Listen to the CD a few times to really start to appreciate the music and the nuances of each track. Not the case here. I really like what A&B has been putting out, but this is by far my favorite yet... and that's saying something.Buy it. You won't be disappointed if you like the A&B sound and flow. If I had one bad thing to say, it's that some of the transitions are the smooth silk I'm used to hearing in other works by A&B.

Some Absolutely Outstanding Tracks
This is the best Anjunabeats compilation in some time because of the quality of the track selection. The flow in this compilation probably isn't as good as the flow from Anjunabeats 7 and 8, however, the quality of the tracks here are simply astonishing. To me, some of the standouts in this compilation are:Above & Beyond - Formula RossaNorin & Rad - BloomMat Zo & Arty - MozartJaytech - New VibeI have this one constantly on repeat on my phone, and I couldn't be happier. Stunning compilation.

Its a Slow Burn.
Coming from Anjunabeats 08 you'll notice a few differences in the overall feel of 09. 08 had a lot of diversity and energy in its sound.(reminds me a lot of "Beyond Euphoria" by Darren Tate) Both discs are mixed well, with lots of stand outs. But many tracks didn't need the context of each other if that makes any sense. A good example of cohesive but varied would be the classic "Tranceport" by Oakenfold. 09 mixes things up a bit.Disc 1 has a more homogenous than usual sound. Peaks seem to rise and just float off to space, and there are more subtle, complex melodies. Certainly not as catchy as before, and you'll miss some the transitions since they bleed together so well, but its in a good way. And like a complete cymatical story with a beginning, middle and end;(ie:Chemical Brothers "Further") almost none of the tracks end up skipped. Yet you can very easily tune out or actively listen if you so chose. Furthermore, even though "Formula Rossa" is kind of anti-climatic. It makes perfect sense here. The whole cd is about gentle build up, with graceful weightless release. The Tai-Chi of trance; looks easy but difficult to pull off. Rossa reflects to that more artistic end and I can see how ppl would be disappointed. Yet its that very same slow burn that gives disc 1 longer legs. Keep in play longer, and/or switch it from the activity you normally do while listening to trance, to give it new perspective.Disc 2 is a complete 360 as there's a prerequisite of thoroughly enjoying electro-house to even listen. Trust me this isn't hyperbole. Its just really difficult for it to fall into your ear without irritation. The main low point is with "Keep Your Secrets", which is very popular right now and I see it as a sign of change good or bad. Its getting compared to the now classic vocal trance "No One On Earth", but doesn't have nearly the emotional depth and power. The disc only starts to get audible towards the end with a few trance tracks by Sunny Lax, Oxide, and Cramp. These could have been on disc 1 instead of having to anchor disc 2.Overall I think 09 is more a journey than the rides that previous releases were. Not that instant hype and energy people have been use to with Anjunabeats. I think this is bit of a turning point and balancing act. Disc 1 I think mirrors Above&Beyond's maturing artistic tastes and Disc 2 the need be on the pulse of emerging sounds/changes. Whether I like it or not, Anjunabeats is a conduit for that.Disc1: ****Disc2: **

good stuff
very much like the anjuna beats, a few totally awsome songs, several good ones, and maybe one or two i dont like. i must admit i very much like female vocalist with trance, but cannot stand male vocals on trance, so call me biased, but i simply dont like it. anjuna beats is a great series and ill be a fan for a while to come,

Too much of a good thing?
I like to listen to these albums while I'm at work. I seem to work harder with them playing in my head. After about 6 hours, though, they will give me a headache. Maybe I should cut it back to 5 hours per day?

No Filler Tracks Here!
This is definitely one of the best Anjunabeats volumes - and I have them all. This album is very well mixed and has a great progression. At this price, you get over 30 incredible tracks - you can't go wrong. I'll be listening to this one for a while.

just dont get the vibe with this one
This anjunabeats outing IMO is their poorest out of the 11 volumes. I am no authority on music but I guess you cant be excellent all of the time. cd 2 last track 14 is fantastic and I think it is among only a handful of good tracks. Mixing as allways is superb. great graphic artwork but just a shame the album doesn't live up to it. I have given it a generous 3 stars.

A&B Anjunabeats vol 9 - Well here it is!
Felt like forever waiting for this after 8, and understandbly took a while, what with all the going's on in between times, touring all over the world and the release of their first album of all their own stuff...Anyways, on to the review. At first listen this isn't as good as any of the previous vol's for Anjunabeats, but it is a grower, few listens in and it starts to sparkle (if only a little). It has all their usual production values, in-house artists etc, and some totally new tracks, however it just doesn't sit together that well (comparing against previous releases again, as what better yardstick to judge it by!)Judging it on it's own, it is very good, just not exceptional, and hence the 4 stars.Listen, enjoy and get the rest, if you don't have them already :)

Absolutely superb!
Well, what can I say? Where do I start?A&B have always been a firm favourite of mine and this album does not disappoint! An incredible selection of music - a load which aren't as common as the others, but that just makes the album even better.Really easy to listen to even if you're not a big trance fan - a very good buy!
