Bright, high quality flashlight.
A very bright LED flashlight. All aluminum construction; appears to be very well made. Made in USA with some imported components. Rather heavy and may be a bit slippery under some conditions. Light beam somewhat focusable. Uses two alkaline D-cells. Recommended.

High quality
Maglites are always good quality. I am tired to the cheap made in China knockoffs that don't last, these are worth the extra expense.

Let there be light!
This is one bright flashlight! Amazing and a spoiler, you don't want to use any other light once you have this one. Haven't had it long enough to judge battery life, but also don't leave it on full that much. It is lighter... in weight and smaller than my Mag LED Pro, nor would it stand up as a baton that well. Beam doesn't focus quite as tight either, which may be good so it doesn't burn holes in stuff. The switch is much better as well, the switch on my Mag Pro was replaced once and is still flaky. This one is electronic with a light touch. Highly recommended and I will be buying more.

Incredibly bright yet energy efficient; worth the upgrade from Maglite's entry-level 2-D cell model
Wow! Fabulously clean, bright light from this 2-D cell flashlight with three switchable brightness levels. The "economy" mode seems to be at least as bright as a 2-D cell incandescent flashlight yet the batteries are claimed to last 120 hours. At the brightest setting, the beam is nothing short of intense -- illuminating things even in daylight with a claimed 6+ hour battery life. This particular Maglite is about twice the price of the entry-level Maglite 2-D cell model but worth the upgrade. The entry level model supports a single illumination level and drains the batteries in about two hours.

Great light.
It is a Mag-lite. What more can I say!

Much brighter than previous generations, but thinner.
I've had several Maglite's over the years and have never been disappointed. The 3rd gen is significantly brighter at the default level. Even the low and eco modes are an upgrade over the previous generation of the LED D cell lights. I like the new light switch and the beam adjustment feels more solid. One thing I don't like is that the barrel is thinner than the previous generations. I don't feel like that will cause reliability issues, but it does cause compatibility issues with accessories. Specifically I'm talking about their own D-Cell light mount. This version does not fit into that mount very tightly but it will hold it. Might not be safe in a car accident though. Despite the accessory issue, I think this is a solid upgrade over the 2nd Gen LED light and I would choose 3rd gen over 2nd gen any time.

I have SEEN the light!
Oh yes, oh yes! And it is a Beautiful Light! It is a 487 Lumens LED light. Pure as the driven snow, bright as the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. True, once upon a time I dreamed I could see a 524 Lumens LED light. I dreamed I could have such a light for my very own. And in that dream (I don’t know where I could have gotten such a crazy idea) I saw a light with the numbers “524” and the word “Lumens” hovering in close proximity to that light, almost as if it was something that truly existed, that you could even buy! Such are the illusions of crazy dreams. But here and now, wide awake, holding my brand spanking new 487 Lumens Maglite flashlight, I realize that a vision of a 524 Lumens Maglite is just not a reality. I am so happy I have my 487 Lumens Maglite flashlight. It is everything I ever hoped a 524 Lumens flashlight could ever be! Its magical pure bright lacuna light has succeeded in erasing my memories of ever believing in a world where I could ever want or need a 524 Lumens flashlight.

Excellent super bright 'generation 3' LED torch couldn't ask for anything more to light up the dark on the way home. When I say this Maglite is bright it is extremely bright. The photo cannot do it justice. The distance when scoped is long and definitely around 300 metres + This is a full size 2D cell battery torch. It is big but not overly big, easily fits in a bag, it's quite heavy but not too heavy. I presume the 3D cell will be too heavy for long walks but this is manageable. It's also a great safety tool, bright light and heavy impact if ever required. I no wonder it's a favourite of the NYPD in close conditions if required. These next generation LED torches are worth the upfront expense approx £50 if you personally ask me, just for the superior light alone, longer battery life and you also have a true quality product being Maglite. made in the U.S.A : )

Veramente formidabile ed utile a chi vive in campagna come me.

So far I needed to use it once and it came in quite handy. I was looking for a D-Cell flashlight with a good amount of lumens to compliment my tactical flashlight. Right now I have it on Law Enforcement but may try different settings.
