Great jacket! Wrong size chart!
Honestly, this is a wonderful jacket! It has a nice, soft cotton/fleece lining, and it is a good windbreaker on the outside. I also love that the outside pockets zip shut, but the pockets aren't lined for keeping hands warm. Also, the zipper may get stuck in the material if the wearer isn't a bit careful. There is a right pocket on the inside, too, but it has a Velcro closure. There aren't any strings for the hood, but there is a bit of elastic on the top/front of the hood that will do well at keeping the hood on, even on a windy day. Also, the hood is lined so those little ears can stay warm, if necessary. i think the front zipper is just fine...not a heavy-duty type, but it isn't poor quality either. My biggest frustration is that the size chart didn't match up with the actual size of the jackets. Based on the size chart, I ordered an XL for my 7YO son who is average for his age (he wears size 7 clothes). When it arrived, the tag read XL (18-20), and it hung off my son as if he were a toddler trying to wear two sizes too big. So, I ordered a M (10-12), and it fits him perfectly. I will order this same jacket in the future, but it was a hassle to have to order twice and wait in between when Michigan's spring weather is upon us--not warm enough to go without a jacket yet too warm for a winter coat.

Comparison of Classroom Big Boys, Junior and Ultraclub lined windbreakers
I bought 5 different jackets/sizes to compare. Sizes L & XL of the Classroom Big Boys (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003AE8IDO), Sizes S & M of the Classroom Junior (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002D4ILFW) and size Small of the Ultraclub (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0031QS3Q8). The Boys jackets were true to size. I'd say the large is a 12-14 size and the XL is a 16-18 size. The Junior Small is pretty much the same size as the boys XL. The differences between them is that the cuffs are tighter on the Junior S than the boys XL. The Junior also has a drawstring hood versus the small elastic part at the top of the hood.Comparing the Classroom brand to the Ultraclub brand...The Classroom brand has a slightly thicker sweatshirt type fleece lining. The Ultraclub Small is a bit larger than the Classroom Junior Medium. The Ultraclub has narrower cuffs (just a single about 3/4" elastic cuff) versus the larger approx 2" cuff on the Classroom brand. The Ultraclub has no cuff on the bottom of the jacket, just a thick drawstring with plastic bell endcaps. The Ultraclub has a extension pleat on the back at the shoulders to allow more "reaching" room. The style of the hood of the Ultraclub is slightly different - the zipper zips up further onto the hood and gives you more neck protection. The hood has a thick drawstring with plastic bell endcaps (my son preferred the more shoelace like drawstring on the Classroom Juniors).

I love the quality of the jacket
My son normally wears a size 8. It is true to size. The jacket looks exactly as picture. I love the quality of the jacket. It is nice and thick. I would recommend others to purchase.

Meh. Only so so.
I bought two of these for my two boys. Both are short in length, but plenty roomy for my skinny/petite-sized kids. I love that they are lined in soft jersey, which is my primary reason for buying these as replacements to our LLBean Discovery rain jackets. Style-wise, though, they look dorky because they're short and so boxy in cut. The worst part is the hood. It's very pointed/cone-shaped when you have it on. If this was a hoodie for looks only, where they never wear the hood, it'd be okay. But these are supposed to be rain jackets for light rain/drizzle-type weather. Somewhat disappointed. Glad I didn't pay more.

Not as expected
This jacket had big arms and is very short. Not as expected, too small and took big arms. Might return

Great Jacket for Mildly Cold Weather
I like that this jacket is fleece lined. I bought this for my son for the cold Colorado mornings and he loves this jacket. Because it has the windbreaker material on the outside it adds a waterproof element to the jacket which is great when there is a flurry of snow. Although this isn’t a replacement for a proper winter coat, I would definitely purchase this again when he grows out of it.

An OK jacket
I use this jacket for my son’s school uniform. The jacket looks pretty decently made at first glance, but after a couple of wears, I noticed it already ripped from the hoodie. I don’t think it’ll last to be honest, but then again, nothing really lasts with these boys LOL.

Great Jacket for my daughter!
I got this for my 11 year old very skinny girl. She loves it! We got a large to make sure she had room to get some use out of it and it is as big as we expected. She could have fit a medium but this will last longer and doesn't look too big! She is very girly but loves having such a warm jacket to keep the cold air and wind off of her. She really likes that there are pockets, especially on the inside! She has been wearing this everyday the temperature is below 75 F. She even wears it outside of school days. I may buy another one as a replacement since she is wearing it so often.
