But it may well be convenient to have a separate oven. The clay was designed to be baked in a home oven and that's how I do mine. I definitely am looking into getting a toaster oven for my clay, though, because it would be easier to have a portable oven in my craft space to bake whenever I want and not have to run back and forth to the kitchen. I would also be able to take it with me to craft in other places without having to use anyone's home stove. But if all you have is a home stove - tha's fine. Just make sure you don't burn the clay - that is when toxic fumes may be released. And make sure whatever tools and stuff you use for the clay remains for the clay only - don't get your clay stuff mixed up with your regular dishes. My clay tools (containers, knives, cups, plates, tiles, etc) are all kept in my craft space and labeled (as needed) that they are for clay or crafts only. I use a toaster oven. 325 degrees per 1/4" thickness off project for 20 min. or a half an hour. It is written on the package. Acrylic paint dries quickly. It will not be sticky. **Q: Will this crack after drying?
