Selected Short Stories of Shen Congwen (Bilingual Series in Modern Chinese Literature) Bilingual Edition

I am generous in giving it 3 stars. Problems: 1) Chinese text is in traditional Chinese and not simplified Chinese (the latter being the official script) which makes it really difficult to read. 2) the English translation is a bit lazy - I'm not sure the translator spent very long thinking about how to convey the nuanced meaning of the original text, the colloquialisms used, the Chinese cultural context, etc. A lot is lost or mechanically converted into Chinese, and the translated text reads badly as a result. Shen Congwen was a celebrated Chinese writer, so I would hate for English readers to think he was really boring or weird because of this translation.
