To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Disney proudly presents the unforgettable animated classic ROBIN HOOD on Blu-ray for the first time ever. Experience all the fun, thrills and celebrated music of this legendary adventure with perfect picture and sound! Join Robin Hood, his trusted companion Little John and his hilarious band of Merry Men as they outfox greedy Prince John to save the good people of Nottingham. Dashing from one daring deed to the next, Robin won't rest until he wins the hand of Maid Marian and restores King Richard to the throne. One of Disney's most beloved movies is even better on Blu-ray Combo Pack! Review: A True Classic - This splendid film is a true classic, full of charm, humor, and heart. Its weaknesses are very small, and they are the dated musical instruments on just a couple of sequences. Despite that, it soars thanks to a magnificent performance by Peter Ustinov as Prince John, aided by Terry Thomas as Sir Hiss. The themes about taxation, poverty, and suffering are clear and intentional in this 'kids' story. I think looking on the surface and dismissing it is a mistake. The casting is perfect, with vocal nuances abounding. I wish there was a sequel, but please Disney: don't remake this into live action. Let it be. Some things are perfect as they are. Review: The Phony King of England - Robin Hood is one hour and twenty-three minutes and was released in theaters on November 8, 1973. Basically it is the same story in live action films with the exception it is animated and uses animals instead of people. The story is simple; Robin Hood robs from the rich and gives to the poor, rescues Maid Marian from the evil clutches of Prince John, and rescues Friar Tuck from hanging and returns the stolen money to the poor people of Nottingham. Each character is protrayed by an animal. My biggest argument that not all the animals protrayed in the film hail from the forrest. Prince John is a thin lion, Sir Hiss is a snake, Robin Hood is a fox, Maid Marian is a vixen, Little John is a bear, Sheriff of Nottingham is a wolf, and Friar Tuck is an American badger. I am sure someone else wrote a more detailed version of the story. My comments will be on the making of the movie. The movie had a very small budget to begin and a lot of a lot of the scenes were reused from other movies. A good example is the dance scene with Lady Cluck and Little John. It mirrors the dance sequence from the Jungle Book where King Louie and Baloo dance to the song I Wanna Be Like You. Even the vultures in this movie were identical to the ones in the Jungle Book. Also the voice of Little John is identical to that of Baloo; even though Phil Harris provide both of the voices. Since the movie is set in England six of the actors are from England: Peter Ustinov as Prince John, Terry-Thomas as Sir Hiss, Brian Bedford as Robin Hood, Monica Evans as Maid Marian, Carole Shelley as Lady Kluck, and J. Pat O'Malley as Otto the dog. Another thing with this movie is the ongoing goof of Skippy's hat, the one giving to him by Robin Hood on his birthday, it starts off as a pale yellow and switches to green and back at yellow again. In 1974 Robin Hood was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Music, Original Song for the song Love, but lost to The Way We Were to the film with the same title. Despite some of it flaws, it is still a good movie to watch. Robin Hood gets an A-. DVD FEATURES Chapter Selections Set Up 1. Spoken Languages a. English b. French c. Spanish 2. This is my favorite cartoon, EVER!!!
I can quote this movie, and so can many of my friends who also grew up in the late 80s/early 90s. This movie was so cute and feel-good, and I'm so glad I got myself and my sister a copy. It holds up great!! Your kids will love it, but the adults will too. Come for the cartoons, stay for the great songs and nostalgia! Excellent masterpiece of animation and storytelling in general. Love story and action and adventure. Everyone can watch it and LOVE it!

Much better than most think!
The transfer is about as good as you can get. The picture looks brand new with vibrant colors. Of course this as a Blu-ray should look if done properly. It was nice to have the storyboarded alternate ending which I don't remember seeing before. Sound, including the wonderful music, is top-notch. Some of the Roger Miller songs are really good. Roger Miller, a country music legend, was always one of my favorite composers anyway. The sound is most definitely crisper and is in 5.1. It was nice to hear George Lindsey's (of Andy Griffith fame) voice again since he passed about a year ago (5/6/12). The plot follows the basic Robin Hood Myth. I felt it was a charming little tale. Someone once said to me that they considered Disney's Robin Hood 'a major minor classic' and I heartily agree. This is not in the same class as say 'Cinderella' or 'Beauty and the Beast' but few movies are. We watched it the same day we received it as I was anxious to see what they had done to the picture, sound, etc. My wife and 21 year old daughter agreed with my assessment overall. ***I RECEIVED A ADVANCE COPY FROM A FRIEND IN THE INDUSTRY*** The rest of the disc special features were ok and that's it. I don't really care about most of this kind of stuff. IF I watch them all I only very seldom watch the material again. I generally buy the Bly-ray if I really like the movie anyway. Usually this kind of purchase, for me, is to replace a DVD or VHS copy. Amazon prices are nearly always better than all the retail stores close to me. I would rate this a 9.0 to 9.5 out of 10 overall with the picture a 10 out of 10.

Un clásico de animación imprescindible
¿Quién no conoce a Robin Hood?
