Awesome not just for metal.
Great sounding pickups, very versatile. I find them much more well rounded than emgs.

great!
I play black metal and have a Les Paul, and mesa boogie amp. This pickups will increase your gain and sustain! Les Paul guitars have a lot of mids, so if you want to increase your low fat end and highs, and if you don't want to increase your mids, seymour duncans are better than EMG`scheck this video!!![...]

Sweet and hot pickup set
I installed these in a well modded 2000 vintage Gibson Les Paul Classic, after I found out the original 500t bridge pickup sounded like mud in a Mesa/Boogie I have. I have another mohogany topped Les Paul with 57 Classics, and they, for a lack of a better word for it, rock on that amp. I ordered my set through GC, since I had some money left on credit from trading horses...First, the pots would not clear the top. So we had to find pots in the correct value that would fit. Then mod them so the knobs would fit. It would have helped if Seymour Duncan included a foam battery case, so the battery doesn't flop around inside. Aside from soldering it up, which I like more than quick connect plugs, that was all main issues on installing. I was told since the magnets are weaker on actives, to have the pickups closer to the strings than my previous pickups where.I plugged into 3 different amps, a Mesa F-100 2x12 combo, a Peavey 5150 2x12 combo, and a Peavey Butcher head on a Mesa 2x12 cabinet which I run a multi effects pedal on. The Mesa, I'll be honest, still not as articulate, but lots better than before. The 5150 absolutely roars now. It's even better with a Morley wah in the signal chain as I found out later. I keep forgetting I have the Butcher after the 5150. I was giddy when I drop tuned, and I had a big 'ol smile when I hit it's first E chord in D. The nickle covers match Les Paul hardware very well. On the Classic, they look better than the original black pickups.I've had EMG's before on other guitars, and I like to have my own tone, vs chasing someone elses. Zakk Wylde's pickup set will fit in a Les Paul. The tech who installed my set, says he does them a lot. Mine where his first Blackout set installed. These are pretty nice pickups. These are thankfully not EMG's.
