The ma-1 or bomber jacket was first developed in the mid-1950s. The ma-1 and its predecessor, the b-15 flight jacket, were needed at that time because the emergence of the jet age created new requirements for pilot performance, safety and comfort. The jacket was warm enough when flying in cold temperatures. An ma-1 mid-weight nylon jacket is water/weather resistant. The ma-1 navy fighter pilot jacket was the first military flight jacket to cross over into civilian fashion. Our nylon flight jacket includes a knit collar, cuffs and waistband, as well as a heavy gauge brass zipper with storm flap for warmth. Our ma-1 jackets are reversible to bright orange, making them ideal for rescue missions and other times when visibility is imperative. This current version has been kept as close as possible to the classic specifications, which debuted in 1950. In 1963 the jacket received substantial revisions by changing the lining to bright orange and making the jacket reversible. The flight jacket design conveys positive images of strength, power and quality **please note that the original color 'navy' ordered by the u.s. Military is more of a teal shade to it...rather than the darker 'navy blue' traditional jackets are known for.

Perfect fit
I was a bit worried I may have bought the wrong size but the jacket fits like a glove. I'm 5ft8 and have a 40in chest and a slim waist. Reading other reviews I thought the medium would be to big and I should have went for the small size but it's a perfect fit and a quality jacket.

Great jacket. Just the right fit and style I was used to back in the 80's.A lot of inferior bomber jackets out there that I have wasted my money on - but this is the real deal

Wow. Cracking jacket. Not worn one since early 90s ( which was black and too big really).And a green one in early 80s.This fits me a treat. And the colour ( replica blue) is almost two-tone and iridescent.Wish I’d brought another years ago.The quality definately hasn’t been lost.

Lives up to the legend
As pointed ou by others this jacket is on the puffy side, if thats what you're looking for. especially the arms are baggy. I'm 5"10 180lbs and medium fits me well, sit on the waist and looks in overall pretty dope. I would not be lying telling you that I've read every single reviews on every single site to get my decent size wich is kind of funny now that I found that fit guide on the AL website, wich you should trust (obv). now the confort of this piece of artwork is beyond belief. I put it on and I could'nt get it to go back in the wardrobe. I bought this to be used as a transition from my winter coat to my normal summer wear, here in Quebec. I don't know how this will hold up against our b*** shattering weather but I can asure you the build quality of this jacket is legendary. I'm expecting another jacket, the white nasa apollo II, tomorrow or after.

Great quality, genuine item for sure.
Purchased this jacket assuming it is an authentic Alpha jacket. The item arrived very fast and was nicely packed. I put it on immediately and noticed that it was one size too big. I should have ordered the Large as noted on the size chart. But many people said this jacket fits small and hence I ordered one size bigger. I checked the jacket inside and out and it is for sure a real authentic Alpha. This would be my second Alpha jacket, replacing one I purchased back in 1990. Great style and good usability.

Marshmallow sleeves - Not like original from 20 years ago
I'm 5'11" 175lbs and a Large fit fine but the arms are just too baggy. I own an older original alpha MA-1 and the older one is not as baggy in the arms like this new one. The sleeves are just too baggy but some may like that baggy look. The quality is good but I gave it 4 stars because some threading was loose on the inside and because the Amazon picture is somewhat in accurate. The jacket sits high on the waist unlike the picture and the sleeves are far more baggy than the picture states.I am planing on ordering the slim version in large and XL and will report in for others who are wondering about sizing.

Classic Jacket ( authentic Alpha Industries )
The shipping was faster than expected. I love the classic look. For a product made in China, it’s made well. Not the same quality as the made in USA version from the 60’s or 70’s. For a $162.50 jacket, I expected more. Hence the 4 stars. Mine is an authentic Alpha Industries MA-1 jacket. Color - sage green - size XL.. ( My opinion, I would size up. Normally I’m a large )

The. Bomber. Jacket.
This is the only bomber jacket I have because I'm not a big fan of the bulky loose fit, but it works. I immediately got the feeling that this the real thing, the original, and there's no need to look for another one. The nylon fabric feels and looks great. I haven't tested it under rain yet. It's warm enough for fall in Montreal.
