Men's Northfield Waterproof Oxford

I like these shoes a lot. They are semi-dressy and durable. My only complaint is that the laces that come with them start getting wonky after only a few wears and need to be replaced.

I like these shoes, and they have been comfortable and durable for me (this is my second pair). But they have one major flaw: the sides of the tounge of the shoe and the inside of the shoe that rubs against them are made of soft shiny leather that squeaks loudly when walking. I addressed this by putting powder in the crevasse to stop the friction; this works, but why are they made this way???

I bought Rockport Northfield back in around 2007. It was light and comfortable with 1 inch heels. However, the outsole and insole didn't last long enough then. Both sides outsoles were prematurely worn out and insoles start to have holes in them within 6 month. Luckily I got the free retail store service. And it lasted until 2020. They were not my daily shoes but I wore them when there were formal occasions. They were simply the go to shoes for somewhat dressier gatherings or events. Recently, I noticed the outer leather cracked here and there. The leather must be de-moisturized and I confess that I didn't care them often enough since I found more comfortable and casual shoes, Keen. I have several pairs of Rockport shoes and some other brand's but none of them were satisfying enough for a semi-formal suit and tie occasion. So I bought Northfield Oxford again. And I noticed it wasn't what it used to be. First of all, not like the shoes I wore until recently, the shoe tongue is not linked with the quarters, the shoe lacing leather parts, which would decrease the shoes waterproofing abilities. And the stitching on the vamp and quarters is terrible. The leather parts were loosely joined with stitching and I can see the holes, which were twice or three times the size of the thread. Let alone the waterproofing capability I was worried that it wouldn't last long enough before the loosely joint threads are going to to pull the leather to torn apart. I felt three problems in there: under-skilled worker, low quality leather and poor quality control. I returned the first pair but second pair wasn't that different from the first one. I thought for a while but for the old time's sake I decided to keep it. Yes, it was cheaper than it used to be. I am sad to see once great Rockport is becoming a crappy brand or I wonder are the shoes on Amazon are all defective ones.

These shoes were easy to break in and comfortable. My only complaint is that the shoestrings are too short.

I've had this for months. It looks very nice dressing up or down. The only crappy thing about this shoe are the laces. While the shoe remains pristine, the laces didn't even last a month before they started wearing off. Not to worry, just buy a replacement lace. Regarding this, I've seen enough reviews from other users regarding this lace, so I must wonder at the manufacturers not listening to customer reviews and do something about this little annoyance on an otherwise good shoe. Don't they read this?

This model of Rockport Shoes has always treated me very well. I wear them for work, and they are very comfortable, as I am heavy on my feet. They are also waterproof, which is a great feature.

Very comfortable shoes. Waterproof is a bonus on the west coast. The durability of soles could be improved.
