Solo: A Star Wars Story (Star Wars) (Little Golden Book)

A Stylistic Adaptation!
Elizabeth Schaefer’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story” (Little Golden Book) adapts the last “Star Wars” story so far, which featured a young Han Solo, exploring how he left Corellia, deserted the Imperial Army, met Chewbacca, and became a smuggler. Along the way, he works with Lando Calrissian, the owner of the Millennium Falcoln, while they try to steal some valuable fuel in order to pay off a criminal syndicate and avoid Imperial entanglements. Pilot Inc. offers the illustrations, which are plenty gorgeous with artistic brushstrokes that perfectly capture the lighting and evoke the Western tone of the film. The sense of wonder they convey will appeal to younglings as their parents read to them.

Better than the movie :)
Let's be honest, this movie was weak. I bought the book for my son who has all the other Star Wars little golden books, just so he could complete his collection and I must say, I like this comic book more than the movie! Even in children's book form the weak parts of the story are inescapable - but at least you don't have to see the actor who plays young Han Solo when you are reading it in comic form lol (if you haven't seen the movie, news flash: he ain't no Harrison Ford). For the price and quality of the little golden book series, solid buy in my opinion.

Love sharing Star Wars with my kids!
I love these books because they allow me to share Star Wars with my kids even though they're not old enough (at least in our house) to watch the movies yet. I'm a huge fan and these books capture the overall story pretty well. They're easy enough for the kids to follow, yet deep enough to explain some of the trickier plot points of the saga. I was a little disappointed they won't get to experience all of the various "reveals" in the movies since they know them already, but it was worth it to me to build their love for the series while they're still young.

Great booo
Great summary of the movie for kids. We aren’t sold yet on letting our son watch this one it was a decent movie, but had too many violent plots to explain to a small child.Glad this book can tell a simpler version so our son can still enjoy it - with all the toys and clothes out he knew there was a new Star Wars movie!

Great Addiotion to Star Wars Library!
Great addition to our golden books Star Wars collection! The book depicts the storyline of the movie well without any of the violent parts. My 5 year old keeps asking me to read it to him over and over again, although he is a huge Star Wars fan. Illustrations are great too. Solid addiction to any kids library.

Love them!
I’ve purchased a few of these books because they are so awesome for kids. They have great pictures and the story’s give all the important notes of the long movies into about 10 short pages. The reading age is spot on.

Solo is so good!
You can’t go wrong with Star Wars and Little Golden Books combined! Solo is my kiddo’s fave. I think we read it 30x in 1 day! Captures the fun of the movie too!

A story for beginning Star Wars readers
I enjoyed the story very much. It explains Hans journey, before a New Hope, in a way that children can understand and relate to.

Solo, as a very concise but to the point Star Wars story
Excellent high quality Golden Star Wars book about one of dad’s favourite Star Wars movies. As always the concise narrative and brilliant cartoon-like art captures the essence and key elements of the story in a solid manner. The funny, colourful art is simply wonderful. Our childeren slightly prefer the new trilogy material. But reading the Solo book to them still sparks to enthusiasm and debate. L3’s droid emanciaption is not a light topic! So in short: very pleased, this one is likely to stay on our bookshelf - along with the other Golden Star Wars books long after the childeren’s interest has moved on.

The story are great
Absolutely lovely books. I have looked into lots of these books. I have to say that the ones with the storyline are really well written, however the ones about Jedi, etc are not as great.

Another great addition to the book series
The Little Golden Book ‘Star Wars’ series is a must for all young (and old) Star Wars fans. These books explain the movies in a suitable and kid-friendly manner while being short enough to read at children’s bedtime. I bought all of them for my son and they are his favourite bedtime stories. The illustrations are also great.I watched Solo when it came out but started to forget what happened in the movie. This book was a good refresher!
