This tool works in minutes! Saves you lots of time, MONEY, & labor! Buy it!
This product is awesome! I purchased this product after realizing "the blow dryer trick" was not the way to go. After discovering that my water dispenser was not working due to the line freezing I initially used a blow dryer to "unfreeze" the water reservoir line behind the vegetable pan on the inside of the refrigerator. It worked like a dream the first time I tried it; however it took FOREVER using moderately low heat which finally melted away and loosened up the ice that had lodged in the line. The 2nd time I tried using the blow dryer, I got cocky and turned up the heat and propped the blow dryer up inside the fridge to let it do it's thing...BAD IDEA! I ended up busting a hole in the line from the heat. :( Eventually, I replaced the line (water reservoir) and decided to look for other options. After googling, I found two seemingly sensible options. 1) I found that you can install some sort of heating element inside the panel behind the water/ice dispenser which will keep it from freezing. Apparently, the doors on most fridges are not insulated properly. That was not ideal for me. 2) I found this AMAZING, handy dandy tool from IceSurrender!!! This tool works in minutes...literally!!! I was able to test it a few days after installing the new water line (froze again...go figure lol) and it worked like a charm! This tool will save you lots of time, money, & labor...I speak from experience.

Cleared up the ice blockage
My water dispenser stopped dispensing. This was easy and quick to use and it did the job. If your dispenser is not working it most probably either an ice blockage, or the water pump is not working. I have a side-by-sed GE and the water pump is easy to get to from the back of the unit. I took it out and disconnected the water line to see if it worked and it did. I then used this unit and like magic, it cleared it up. You can also take speaker wire or something that's slightly rigid yet flexible and try pushing into the water tube. If it's stuck after 8"-12" there is probably an ice blockage.

The #1 tool for clearing ice from your fridge's water dispenser line
While not a permanent solution, it has improved the situation immensely.I tried the blow dryer method. Took 10-15 mins and was fully effective. The blockage came back within a few hours of non-use. I tried the string trimmer line method and while it was a quick way to get rid of the blockage, it only took about an hour of non-use for the ice to return. The flaw with this trick is that the string takes up space in the tube which means there's less water to freeze so it happens more quickly. The IceSurrender tool gets to the problem and because it removes all the ice, the line stays clear much longer with non-use. The first day, the line was clear up to the time we went to bed. It was frozen up in the morning so I used the tool again. The line was clear all day and did not freeze up over night.I know I've got an ongoing problem that needs to be addressed, but this tool has reduced the time it takes to unblock the water line (it takes longer to microwave the water to put into the tool) and has kept the line clear longer than any of the other methods and that's because it's clearing out all the ice with the hot water. The other methods are unreliable when it comes to knowing you've cleared the line. This is the one method you can count on to clear the ice.

Fixes GE Side by Side with Frozen Water Line in the Door
This thing is amazing! I have a GE fridge and the water on the door stopped working. Ice maker works fine. I read on the internet that it was a frozen line in the door so I did the hair dryer the first time and it worked but took about 15 minutes and my freezer got so warm that I think it then had to ramp up the cool to get it cooled down again, so a day or so later the line was frozen again. So I heard about this little gadget and bought one. It's not very big and I thought I would have to do it a few times to get anywhere. I put a glass of hot tap water in the microwave for 30 seconds to get it good and hot but not boiling. Then I put a cup underneath and fed the tubing up until I could feel it stop which was not very far, maybe 5 inches or so. I squirted some water and felt a little give so pushed the tube in a little further and squirted some more. When I finished I was going to draw more hot water into the syringe and while I was getting read to do that I heard a noise and I guess that was the ice jam breaking free. I tried the water and it was flowing freely.I am so happy with my purchase, and recommend it highlyThanks for reading my reviewBecky Brooks

Works Perfectly, some durability issues
I have a GE refrigerator where the water dispenser line tends to freeze up every couple weeks. I used to have to spend a half-hour or more with the freezer open while using a hair dryer on the inside of the door to get it to thaw. I've used this tool 3 times already, and it gets the job done in seconds - typically only requiring the syringe to be filled twice.Edit: After ~2 years I am reducing from 5 to 4 stars as durability issues have meant that I have to replace my tool about once a year, and I just ordered my 3rd. My line has been freezing up more often than when I first purchased this, and I am now using the tool much more than I did originally, sometimes as often as a few times per day. With that much use, the plastic is weakening, and it eventually breaks. To be clear, I am not dissatisfied with the performance - this is still the best tool for the job.
