The new Aputure Lantern uses it’s own trickery to make pitching easy too. The Lantern is even faster! The rods are not stiff and bend into position with little pressure. You won’t need to find the guy with the biggest muscles to pitch the lantern.Instead of inserting each rod into a base it’s already put together. To assemble you slide the fabric diffuser over the frame and simply push it down and clip the end into a U shaped holder.It’s swift and simple. All that’s left is attaching the skirts and mounting to the COB Light Storm fixture or other Bowens mount light. I love it when the gear doesn’t get in your way. The Lantern doesn’t weight very much coming in at 6.09 lb / 2.76 kg. While that doesn’t seem like a lot of weight when you add a fixture to the mix it can get heavy, so make sure the boom or arm and stand used can handle it.The kit includes the Aputure Lantern frame with a 1-stop diffusion.4 skirt sections with sewn-in Velcro for attaching and holding in place when rolled up in sections and a travel bag.Once the Lantern is assembled you can keep it together and store it in the travel bag.Having it as a 360-degree source makes it very useful for round table discussions. If you don’t mind having a lot of spill the Lantern can be used as a traditional key light in the same position a softbox would be in but again without the skirts attached, the light will also fill the room depending on the output of the light used. The Aputure Lantern will decrease the output approximately 1-stop.I couldn't be more happier with this product and build quality

I bought this as a supplement to the Light Dome thinking it would have a couple of specific uses with my Aputure 300D mkII, but have found myself using it more often than the Light Dome due to the ease of setup and excellent control of light spill. Interviews, product shots, ambient fill - I’ve put this through its paces and it has exceeded my expectations.Setup requires only a quick push of the base down into the metal housing to expand the lantern into its ball shape, and the negative/reflective skirt is easily attached and altered via velcro. Super simple.The soft carry case is great and the whole unit is lightweight and portable.It would be great to have a gel holder and sometimes it feels a bit unwieldy trying to attach the large expanded lantern to the light, but these minor issues don’t really detract from what is overall a surprisingly versatile piece of kit.

The Aputure Lantern is by far, my most used modifier when it comes to lighting.Easy to setup and breakdown, this is attached to one of lights about 90% of the time for doing very quick setups for b roll when filming on location to give a soft and pleasing light that doesn't look too much like a "source" of light.This is lightweight enough to be used on a smaller stand and doesn't put too much weight onto the handbrake of a light.Packs down and sets up in seconds!I can highly recommend this product if you use a 300D or any of the NanLite and Pixapro Bowens mount lights.

I love this light!! Creates an incredibly soft light on your subject or perfect for just casting ambient light in a room, I’ve used on a number of projects already and the results have been beautiful. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to purchase. Comes in a handy bag and the product itself is very sturdy and well built - and incredibly easy to setup.

The light from this lantern with a COB 300 mk II is simply a marvel.Sadly, it's so beautiful that you can't use it as much as you want, because some shoots in the studio simply require harder light. But I'll be looking out for opportunities to put them to work.

This is a must have product for the Aputure lights, defuses lights really softly and adds a natural soft light effect. I have the light done as well but prefer to use this now.It also comes with Velcro barn doors to block and channel your light - nice little touch

This is some of the most thoughtful design I’ve ever experienced.Sets up in less than a minute. Good soft light. Relatively easy to get a gel on it. Lite. Cheap. Well made. Adaptable.Best modifier you can get - will double as a soft box if you can’t be bothered to bring one along.
