VOLOOM Petite 1”Professional Hair Volumizing Iron - Medium or Fine Hair

I have been stalking this for a while, reading reviews, watching videos. I finally pulled the trigger. I was skeptical and initially thought it was a lot of $$$! Now I think it’s some of the best $$$ I’ve ever spent, for real. A little about me: 57 yo; lots of hair, but on the fine, slick side. My hair has never liked to hold a curl. at peri- and now post menopause, I’ve had the typical thinning on the top, crown, temples, and sides of head. I despise hair products except to smooth my ends and maybe a very find misting of hair spray to frame my face. . I find any “volumizing”” products to be snake oil. I cannot tolerate any root lifters or dry shampoo on my scalp. They cause itching. In addition, I can’t stand the feel of these products. They feel stiff and gritty, overall a dirty feeling. I’ve tried teasing, but without aforementioned product, it just won’t hold up. THIS tool works. It is very subtle, but just enough to give that illusion of a bit of fullness and volume. If one were to use the tool with any products, WOW! I suspect one could achieve crazy lift, but that’s not what I was after. I am simply thrilled with this tool. I have a slightly layered bob that is shoulder to clavicle length. I almost bought the Rootie size, but after watching many videos, I felt the Petite would be perfect, and it is. It’s just the right size. I’m of the age where I grew up in the 1980s with really BIG hair. lol. I think the current flat crown look is lovely on most/some, but with my particular features, plus my whole face starting to melt/sag with age, I want to detract from my face, not bring focus in on it. Again, I couldn’t be more thrilled! I love it.

I realize this tool is not cheap, but you will get what you pay for. If you are on the fence about investing in the Voloom, please give it a chance. IT WORKS! I have very thick, but very fine, flat hair (poofy at the ends but FLAT at the scalp). I’ve never in my life found any “product” I could put in my hair to create LASTING volume that didn’t flop a couple hours later. Products inevitably cause my hair to look greasy and weighed down. As long as you follow the instructions, you cannot see the “waffling” in the hair as it’s well hidden. Just voluminous hair that lasts. I have found that with my hair being a bit on the oily side, I usually need a slight “touch up” with some dry shampoo and the tool on next-day hair, but the volume is truly still there from the day before! It is so nice not to have to dread styling my hair. I would call this tool “life changing.” The other good reviews are not exaggerating.

I wasn't sure if this would work ... I am thrilled I gave it a try. Provides amazing volume without teasing and holds all day and longer (even after sleeping). I highly recommend ! Easy to use; heats up in less than a minute.

So the BIG question on products like these is always...does it really work to add volume. I was doubtful but wanted to try it. I have baby fine hair that never seems to hold any lift or volume at the top and I was hoping this would help. I wouldn't say that you're going to be ASTOUNDED at the amount of volume, but it definitely DOES help a bit. I also like that it is super fast to use because you only need to do one layer of hair (just under your top layer) and you only need to "crimp" from the scalp down to just above the ears or so. It makes that underneath layer a tad bumpy and frizzy (as if that hair had been in tiny little braids and then released) and that does give you volume. If you do it right then you won't be able to see the bumpy, frizzier hair underneath. But I would still use all your other volumizing products and styling tools because this is meant to ADD to those and would not give you enough volume all by itself. For me, I'm going to keep it and use it to get just that little extra UMPH!!!

I don't often write reviews, but since hair is such a struggle for me, I feel compelled. I heard about this product from my hairdresser. Another of her clients recommended it. So, as soon as I could get to wifi, I started watching You Tube reviews. So excited! Yes, the price is quite steep, but if you struggle with silky fine hair, you are almost willing to trade an arm for better hair. I have just below chin length inverted hair that is fine and thin. When I first got the product, I styled my hair as normal (I use dry shampoo, texturizer, heat protectant, volumizing products, volumizing blow dryer, curling iron, etc.) Then, I pinned my hair on the top of my head and started working in sections dropping down as I went. I started at a temp of 300 degrees to try to minimize heat damage. I did not "Voloom" the top layer so the crimping would not show. Yes, there was a bump in volume! I could still see the crimped hair peaking through...It annoyed me, but the volume was worth it. I gave a final spray happy with the results. Money worth spending. Until, I went out the door. I haven't mentioned that I live in the Gulf South and the air is often so humid and liquidy. Five minutes outside and the flat was back. I could feel a little of the texture was there, but not a lot of bump. I went right back and Voloomed a couple of areas, but by the end of the day, there was no evidence of my new product. I have repeated this several times raising the temperature each time. This thing is miraculous if you don't deal with tropical humidity often. However, I may keep it in my arsenal for the 15 days of the year when the humidity is not so bad. It's an awful lot to spend for just a few days, though. I felt obligated to give my southern girls a heads up.

I studied the reviews and finally purchased the 1” as my hair is thicker and wavy. It did what I wanted, gave me lift at the roots and fixed my terrible cowlick in the back. I am very satisfied
