Skylanders SWAP Force Starter Pack - PlayStation 3

Okay, I've been hearing all the fuss about Skylanders for a couple years now, but never actually got the chance to actually pick up and play the game. I got a amazon card this Christmas and was looking for something to spend it on. I really wanted to get a game for my Playstation 3 and one that was going to have longevity.I saw that Skylanders Swap Force had a price cut on it was around $33 had a $25 gift card. So paid 8 bucks best 8 bucks I've ever spent. Absolutely love the whole toy comes to life on the portal which gives it a unique flair to the game. Grant it I've only played this game for about an hour but just HAD to write a view So couple things, in the box they give you a lovely poster with all the lovely swappable characters that come in game and the figures come with a little sticker pack that allows you to mark off what figures you have on the poster which is a nice incentive for any child who want's to collect them all and know what figures do what elemental damage. Also I think the characters in the Skylanders such as (Tessa and of course Flynn ride are great!) Very humorous and lovable characters. Now back to the swappable figurines I wasn't exactly sure how the whole swap system would work out in game play but soon found out that they have a very nice system that allows you too upgrade your figurines ability depending on the top or bottom half which gives a really neat touch as far as strategy of the game and giving the players all the more incentive to want to buy more figures and such. I feel like such a kid again playing this game and totally do not regret buying this game it's fantastic! It's great for ALL ages even the parents or young adults. It's a interesting, fun colorful story line and world and fantastic work of art in design of characters. Totally recommend any parent to get this it has a lot of replay ability in the game that'll it'll be hard for them not to put it down.

This review is more about determining which characters to buy to get through 100% of the game so you're not spending a ton on needless characters. The series already has substantial popularity with a ton of reviews written. Concerning the portals. Swap-Force characters can only operate on the swap-force portal. They will not function on the Spyro or Giants game portals. However, The Spyro and Giants charcters will work normally on the Swap-Force portal. As you travel through the maps of the game you'll come across various "turn-offs" (caves, doorways, etc...). There are things to be earned/won/collected in each of these areas. These areas require a character with either a certain ABILITY (i.e. spin, bounce, dig, sneak, teleport, etc...) or of a certain ELEMENT (fire, water, earth, etc...) The elemental characters need not be a swap-force character. They can be from either of the other series (Spyro, Giants). You have to have a character from each of the elements. There are also areas you must have a swap-force character with a specific ability to enter. As an example, Wash Buckler is a water element character with a climb ability. He can open water areas and climb areas. You must have swap-force characters that cover all the abilities. The only other type of character that is needed is a GIANT. There are certain boxes that only a giant can open. It's a fun game. Kids are really into it and can't wait to get the next series. After you complete the story There are still ton's and ton's of other activities to complete within the game. If you don't start off with all the necessary characters you can still select areas of the story to go back to and find items you are missing. Hope this helps.

We just got this game, and my 8 yr old son loves it! I like it too, I like the gameplay here better than the other interchangeable character game on the market (think big ears). Just so you are aware, in order to go places and do levels in this game, you will need to buy more characters than what came with the game. So your kids will come to you asking for more, and each character is about $16 each (swap ones). I already bought 8 more; some, if you have older game, you can use the characters you already own, but you will need more of the new characters that require "sneak" and other attributes. So, in short, you might think this is a $40 game, but it will soon become $200. Be prepared for the kids asking for more as the characters as they are fun; my son loves swapping the body parts. Almost forgot, when your character dies, he is in a time out, so you get another character out and play with them, each character you own becomes a "life" in the game. That is pretty cool, and the in game time out, is on the body part, so if you died with the top of the robot guy on the squid tentacles? those parts are in time out, and you then play with robot bottom/squid top. Hope you enjoy collecting! ;)

Being a huge fan of Lego video games, I was looking for something different to play with my 8-year old daughter. She suggested Skylanders which many of her friends play, so I looked it up. Being new to this series, I didn't know much about them but I decided on SWAP Force due to large variety of characters and versatility in gameplay. Overall, I was impressed with this starter pack. For the money, it's really a great value in terms of entertainment. The production value of the game itself is high, with solid voice work and good humor. The quality of the figures is also impressive. It's clear that the starter pack was priced to give you a taste, which brings me to the single biggest issue I have with this game...un-anticipated cost. In order to fully access all the content in the game, you must purchase additional figures, which I was aware of, but I did not plan ahead (ok that's my fault). A few hours into the game, I realized that you need to purchase at least 8 additional figures in order to have all the abilities and categories covered, most of which are mandatory to access certain minigames or levels within the game. Most of the figures cost between $15 and $20 each, some are almost impossible to find due to rarity (for one very rare character, you can find it on eBay for $30+). So doing the math, you will need to spend at least $120 to fully access all the content. If you are ok with this, then it's no big deal. For me, by the time I realized this, I was about half way through the game and it did not make sense for me to (1) purchase all the figures and (2) go back and replay levels I had already completed in order to find the previously locked content. Clearly this business model is working well for the producers, and kudos to them for coming up with this. Looking back, it would have been a better overall experience (for my daughter and I) if I had purchased all the characters up front and not have to worry about not getting access to something while playing. This is the approach I will likely take in future series. All in all, a great game which I recommend highly for parents with kids.

If you're like me (the parent of a boy who loves gaming, but as a parent you understand that he doesn't want "little kid games" anymore but you don't want him playing First Person Shooter games either, lol), this is the game to pick!!! It's great for the kiddos that don't want to be stifled with the "baby games" anymore and are craving something a little more edgy with a lot more adventure! It comes with everything you need to get started and brings a great incentive to get the kids up and doing some chores too ("If you clean your room every day, you'll be able to buy a new Skylander to add to your collection in just 2 weeks!"). Plus, there are so many characters to add on later. Different elements, different stories, different possibilities! And I love that we can even use characters from the previous Skylanders games (Spyro's and Giants) as well as SWAP Force in the game. The starter pack box came to us in EXCELLENT condition and arrived super fast!!! And now I'm one happy mom!

Game showed up just a couple days before it was supposed to I honestly could hardly even tell those things ever been open before it was basically like opening a brand new game

My kids, ages 4 to 9, LOVE this game. It's fun, colorful, has cute animations, and can narrate a story while the kids play. The Skylanders figures are very cool with some of them being interchangeable with others which gives your player different abilities. PROS you can conquer the game without buying all the extra characters it's fun for the kids to look for their next character at the store kids love it my husband and i like it fun not violent cool figurines your character can change into hundreds of different characters with different abilities CONS only 2 players your kids will want all the characters the collection of characters are expensive you'll need to store all the characters somewhere some of the portals in the game need to be unlocked by Skylanders Giants so if you buy the Giants characters then your kids will want the Giants game, too, which will make your kids beg for another entire set of characters to go with the Giants game

The first disc would freeze when my son would get to level two. They were good at getting a replacement, but unfortunately the second disc also freezes, but this one does it randomly.

初めて北米版を購入したので不安がありましたが日本で買ったPS3で普通に起動できてプレイ出きます。いつもの使用している３色ケーブルでテレビと本体を繋げてますがプレイできました。スパイロゲームではキャラのムービーが見れる機能があったのですがこのゲームは同じようなキャラのムービー見るには他のケーブルを繋げげない見れないみたいです。私には英語がわからないので不明です。 日本語のスカイランダーズのスパイロの大冒険が好きでフィギュアもほぼ持ってますがこのゲームでもフィギュア使えます。 特殊なゲートを開く時に二つの属性で開く扉とかもありますが、スパイロの大冒険のフィギュアで二つの属性でも扉が開きました。 ただスワップ専用のゲートはスワップの属性がないと開かないみたいです… 英語対応なので言葉はすべて英語です。でも矢印のアイコン等も出るので全く英語がわからない私でも大丈夫そうです。 まだ数十分しかプレイしてない上での感想です。

Really liked that the purchase was for a "NEW" product and item was actually new unlike some other purchases I made stating item was new. Bought as a late Christmas gift for my son who couldn't decide what he wanted before Christmas. He will be pleasantly surprised at the almost full series he will be getting. Great game series as he had it for another game system and really enjoyed it.

まず最初に、「子どもにプレゼントしよう」と思うならばこれは現在では「スパイロの大冒険」よりもスカイランダー集めにお金がかかります。 続編としてのゲーム性、ストーリー、そしてHDMI対応になりGiantsより高画質になりビジュアルともに全てにおいて向上しておりスカイランダーズ３作目として最高の出来栄えだと思います。 スカイランダーズではお馴染みのキャラクター、フリンやキャリもちゃんと登場してくれるので続編としての引きこみは最高です。 今作において新アクションとして「ジャンプ」が出来るようになり、ステージにも高低差が生まれ前作のGiants、前々作スパイロの大冒険のような平坦な道ばかりではないので見栄えもとても綺麗でやっていて飽きません。 ただ・・・・それでも★４つなのは今回[Swap force]の一番のウリである「上下半身を入れ替える“スワップフォーススカイランダー”」が完璧に今作のコスパを跳ね上げてくれてるからです＾＾； 結論から言いますと、「スワップフォーススカイランダー」が日本未発売なので輸入にしか頼れない為コスパがエグいのに、遊びつくすにはほぼ全類のスワップフォースが必要だということ。 待てる人は日本での販売を待ったほうが良いと思います。 スワップフォースはそれぞれのスワップフォース達と組み合わせが出来、それによって属性が２種類になる（スターターだと水と炎）スカイランダーが完成しそしてゲームでは当然２つの属性を持つゲート、「スワップフォース専用のエレメンタルゲート（例：[炎/水]、[土/マシン]など）」が出てきます。 ※このゲートに至っては「２人プレイで２体のスカイランダーの属性で協力して開ける」ということで解消できますが、ソロ(一人)でプレイしてるとなると一人で２つのコントローラーを操作するのは不可能なので家族や友達の協力が必須となります。 また、スワップフォースはそれ以外にも「専用のスワップパワー」を持っており台座にそれぞれ能力のマークがあります。 そしてスワップフォーススカイランダー専用のボーナスステージが存在します。（それをクリアするとお馴染み、帽子などが入手出来ます） スターターに付属している“炎”のブラストゾーンは“ロケット”（ロケットのマーク）、“水”のウォッシュバックラーは“クライム”（はしごのマーク）が画かれており、そのボーナスステージにはそれにあったマークのスカイランダーでしか進むことが出来ません。 そしてこのスワップパワーは全部で８種類あります。 ですのでこの「スカイランダーズ スワップフォース」を全て遊ぶには少なくとも８属性のスワップフォースと尚且つスワップパワーも１体ずつ必要になってきます。 Giantsのようにジャイアントスカイランダーが１体あれば全て制覇出来ると言う訳ではないのでコスパは高め。 感覚で言えば「スパイロの大冒険」でゲートを開ける為に全属性購入して費用が嵩んだ時と全く同じです（汗） なので全て遊ぼうとすると現在日本では未発売なので全スカイランダーが輸入や輸入ショップからの購入が必須となり１体の購入にもかなりの費用がかかるので帽子などのゲーム中のコレクションもじっくりプレイした方は相当な額がかかるでしょう。 また中には海外でも人気のスワップフォーススカイランダーは居ますのでe-bayなどでも高値で取引されているのもあります。 なのでスワップフォース然り、青い台座のスカイランダーを全種コンプを目指すとなると恐らく今までで一番コストが高いです。 大よその値段で言えば１体あたり送料なども含めると凡そ5000〜7000円ほどするのも居ます。日本の３体セットよりも高価です。 当方は自分（大人）用に購入しましたので趣味への費用を削ることでコレクション出来てきていますが、もし子どもへのプレゼントするならば時間はかかりますが、国内販売のアナウンスを待つことをオススメします＾＾；
