I haven’t carved these yet but they look very adequate.

I ordered two basswood spoon blanks, I think I received maple, or cherry, definitely a hardwood. The wood is clean on both pieces with only two tiny knots on one piece ( which will be removed in carving ). I will use them regardless, they will just take more time to complete (more time carving is not a bad thing).Like all the Beavercraft products I have tried, the quality was there and the wood carves with consistency, just requiring a bit more time.EDIT 3/29:As I removed material from the first blank while working on the spoon "bowl" area, I noticed the wood became easier and easier to carve, and seeming to have a higher moisture content. This continued to be apparent while working on the rest of the spoon. It appears the spoon blanks I received might have been drier than I expected, so I am changing my review to 5 stars!I put my unused blank in a one gallon "Ziploc" bag, along with a clean damp sponge and will try putting it out in the sun, hoping to get the blank re-humidified.

Found the handle thickness lacking, would have preferred a little more say a 1/4 inch
