UPDATE: Got a gift! :)
In the body above, it is mentioned: "Free Gift with Every Purchase! All purchasers are now entitled to download a brand new bonus book, Making Money With Honey - absolutely FREE! (see back of book for details)" Unfortunately, there are no such details. The book is a relatively short and easy read. For the price, one should not expect a detailed "How To": this book isn't meant for that. This book provides most all the information required in order to make an informed decision on if you'll be interested in being a Beekeeper, not a step-by-step program. And for what it is, I found it a great resource. After reading it, I've decided that beekeeping may be for me and talked to some Beekeepers to get a more hands-on experience. This book helps me understand what they're talking about and helps them take me more seriously because I don't have to be taught every little thing. That alone is worth the price of admission, though I would very much enjoy the author/publisher/Amazon making good on the bonus book (-1 star for false advertising: if I'm an idiot and missed it, point it out and I'll gladly up the rating and offer an apology).UPDATE: I was contacted by the author, who offered an apology and made good on an advertised promise. Great book, great human being!

Good overview and an easy read
I thought this ebook was pretty good as an overview of beekeeping. It talks about how to get started and comes from the point of view of a beekeeper interested in producing honey with their bees. (Maybe not everyone who does beekeeping does this but I do.)Probably the best thing though is that it is a pretty easy read. Very straightforward and I could fly through it real quick, but it has enough meat that I can give it as a quick reference guide too. I'm going to give it to my daughter who is just getting started.

Beeeutiful Read About Being A Backyard Beekeeper
It's almost impossible to keep from saying things like "You'll Bee amazed...", but I'll try. This is a basic book for beginning beekeepers. You find out the queen's job, and how to recognize the queen bee. The queen's mating habits and lifespan. You get some basic information about drones and worker bees. Then the author gives you some history of beekeeping. You read about the pioneers in beekeeping. There is a section about the life of a bee, and how the different types of bees work together. How to choose a location for your hive is covered in some depth, as well as the laws involved. You'll need equipment, and this is covered as well. You get a pretty comprehensive section on managing you new bee colony. And now the payoff, harvesting you honey. There is a good section on bee diseases, infections, and pests. You'll also find out a little about pesticides and their effects. This is not an exhaustive book on Beekeeping like some textbooks. But, if you have a friend who is thinking of beekeeping as a hobby, or to earn a little extra money...this is the book. I can see why it's so popular.Very recommended.

Good, but a lot of typos that should be easy to fix
I enjoyed this book and it was a good intro to bees and beekeeping, and the writing style is casual and fun.If you are completely new to the hobby then this is a good place to start, especially considering the price (so if you decide it's not for you, then you are only out a few bucks). That being said, it seems that for such a short book, it should be pretty easy to proof-read it at least once or twice and correct the typos. Even one of the chapter titles has a typo! ("10 - What Diseases and Pest Can Harm My Bees?"). In addition to the typos, Chapter 4 is in a completely different font than the rest of the book.Anyway, a 5-star book with the typos and formatting problems fixed. Maybe the author can update it?

Excellent Beekeeping Guide
I found this book very interesting, well written and easy to follow. I enjoy watching TV programs and reading about wildlife, whether it be an elephant or an ant, as it is very interesting learning about what makes them tic. It was very interesting to read about the bees daily routine, what each bees duty is, they are almost like humans in the sense that each has its own task to complete during a days work, they eat, mate and even fight. This book is packed with tons of information from knowing your bees, the history of beekeeping/bee hunting, to how to get started beekeeping. Equipment needed, where to place hives, even controlling flight paths, transporting hives, and even some education on pests and disease that can affect your bees and hives. All in all, this is a very good book for beginners to beekeeping.

A good start
I picked this up the other day to get a head start on my beekeeping course I'll be taking. While I already knew a lot of the basic information, this is a good start for anyone to get started in beekeeping. It isn't a how-to, but does give an idea of what is required for each step of the beekeeping process. One thing I didn't like is the constant use of "bee" in place of the word be. Yes, I get the joke and it was mildly amusing the first couple of times. But it didn't need to go through the entire book.I would still recommend this to anyone curious about getting started with beekeeping to help decide if it is right for you.

I always wanted to try this
There were always lots of bees around when I was growing up. My dad was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, something the bees really seemed to appreciated. I found the bees fascinating and thought that one day it might be fun to keep bees as a hobby. The Bee Book For Beginners has an incredible amount of information about bees and bee keeping packed into its ten chapters. I can't imagine what else you need to know to get started.I found out about the history of bee keeping, the lives of bees, the equipment I'll need, bee diseases, when to harvest the honey and many other things I had no idea I needed to know before considering becoming a bee keeper. Now that I'm retired I think this might be just the time to give this a try and I'll certainly keep The Bee Book For Beginners close at hand.

The perfect starting point
If you have even the slightest interest in keeping your own bees, you will just love this book. Nothing is left out. I found it to be the perfect starting point and learned a lot that would be of benefit to the apprentice bee keeper.
