A good rule of thumb is to replace the sediment filter the most often (as it starts looking dirty, prob 1-6mos). Change the carbon filters on a schedule because chlorine is the most dangerous thing to let through to the membrane (usually 6-12mos). Chlorine will quickly damage the membrane(most expensive to replace, usually 1-2yrs). Letting hot water run through the system opens the pores on the membrane and let's contaminants through. Also, when you change carbon filters, let them flush to the drain before connecting output to membrane (will keep carbon dust from settling in the membrane pores). The easiest way to check if you need to replace the membrane is with an inexpensive ppm/tds meter, you should be in the 0-50ppm range, depending on your starting ppms of the tap (collect sample before it reaches the mineralizer to test). Once ppms start creeping up, you need to change your membrane. You will need a ph tester to determine if the mineralizer is exhausted. Each filter really has it's own rate it wears out. I've worked with reef tanks and hydroponics most of my life so I help these tips help. **Q: How much water is being wasted while filtering?** A: As I did my research this one i found was about 1 to 1 so if I remeber correctly, please dont quote this but I did by this one becuase it wasted the least amount of water per gallon i looked at. Got it in a Double box that included everything organized by box and extremely well packaged. Faucet is very sturdy and clean looking, all stainless and feels heavy duty. Components are very well made. Price point is just great! Installation took about 1 hour following video instructions (available on Youtube). Everything fit just right without leaks on the first try. (Be Careful when installing plastic threading on metal components. Make sure that the threads are straight and you'll have no problems) Follow the manufacturers recommendation for system flushing and youre all set. Installation requires drilling to tap the drain before the P trap and if you have to drill a hole for the faucet. Other than that, the rest is just Screws and Pressure Fittings. Water Quality is the best! Re mineralization adds those minerals that help with hydration, alkalinization and de ionization takes that water to heavenly status!
