Children add a unique strain on a couple's time and relationship, yet they desperately need parents who love each other. That's why, according to Dr. Willard Harley, one of the most important things parents can do for their kids is keep their marriage healthy. His Needs, Her Needs for Parents , now available in trade paper, helps them do just that. Following the pattern of the bestselling His Needs, Her Needs , this book guides both new and seasoned parents through the whys and hows of sustaining romance in a marriage. It also offers specific, practical steps on spending quality time as a couple, deciding on child-training methods, dividing domestic responsibilities, and even handling kids with ADHD and intrusive in-laws. His Needs, Her Needs for Parents helps couples maintain their love for each other and raise happy and successful children at the same time. Review: very helpful book - wonderful book that really helped me Review: Just buy it - I read the original His Needs Her Needs book when I got married. It definitely helped a lot. After 10 years of a perfect marriage, we decided to have a kid. Our relationship started going downhill and after about a year, we realized that something was very wrong. I remembered how the original book helped and went to find it again, but found this one instead. It seemed to fit our situation better since we had a kid now. After the baby went to sleep, we read it every night until we finished it. I think it immediately helped our relationship. After putting a few of the recommendations into practice, my husband and I are definitely closer! Itโs only been a few weeks, but I know itโll get so much better as time goes on.

Conversation Starter-Wisdom-Good Action Points
His Needs, Her Needs for Parents The author, Williard F. Harley, Jr. encourages page turning via short stories that illustrate the concepts brought to bear. Walking a fine line, he bridges the intellectual divide of educated and un/under-educated using easily grasped wordplay and the potential for realities that inspire. Clear and informative, the stories shared of those that have been in his counseling care allow the reader to examine their own lives without an accusatory or demanding tone. While almost dogmatically introducing key concepts throughout the book, one thing does become clear; if you want a happy marriage, and family, you must have enthusiastic agreement. In short, this book is a great conversation starter. I canโt say that I agree with every view or approach offered, but there is enough actionable material and concepts of worth proffered that I would recommend it. Those seeking to start a family, or simply looking to better their home environment, will find wisdom within.

The Best Book on Marital Love and Parenting
If you haven't read the original book, it's definitely worth reading. It focuses just on the marital relationship and staying in love. If you have read it, than the first section of this book will largely be a quick refresher of that book. The second section focuses on responsibilities of parenting and how to handle those responsibilities with your partner in a way that helps you maintain your marriage and overall balance in your home life. The last section covers special parenting circumstances, like dealing with special needs or step children. Dr. Harley provides examples of couples he has worked with to demonstrate his points. I love Dr. Harley's books and his insight. He simplifies complicated matters without oversimplifying them, and he provides very useful, practical advice for couples based on his extensive experience. He points out destructive behavior and attitudes without judgement. It seems many couples make the same mistakes, so most people can relate to various situations he talks about. But even if they can't relate to most of them, I still think his books are worth reading for the reminder of how to stay in love.

Wish I'd read it sooner!
One of the top 5 books in my library. If you want a joyful marriage that honors God, this is a must-read. I've been married for 30+ years, and I read it again just a few months ago. If I had read this book as a newly-wed, it would have saved me a world of hurt. That's why I give it to the just-married and "veteran" spouses alike in my life.

Awesome!
I liked how relatable the stories in the book were to our own lives. I would recommend this book to everyone. I wish I would have read this before we were married and had children not almost 10 years and 3 kids into it. I have actually sent a bunch of my friends over to Dr Harley's website. He is really good at painting pictures so that both spouses can understand. Love it.

... partner and that a relationship between a couple who love each other sets good foundation
I have found this book very informative and helpful especially how to schedule and divide house work equally with your partner and that a relationship between a couple who love each other sets good foundation. I really like his concept because they are not common sense but they promote valuing children.
