A mid-weight flight nylon with water resistance and scads of versatility, the MA-1 Navy fighter pilot jacket was the first military flight jacket to cross over into civilian fashion. Our nylon flight jacket includes knit cuffs, a knit collar and waistband, as well as a strong front zipper with storm flap for warmth. There are multiple snap-closure pockets as well as the utility/pencil pocket with the Remove Before Flight keychain. Our MA-1 jackets are reversible to bright orange, making them ideal for rescue missions and other times when visibility is imperative. This current version has been kept as close as possible to the classic specifications (dating back to the early 1950's) and also received several revisions during the 1960's. Alpha Industries was founded on the belief that the U.S. armed forces deserved protective clothing that was of superior quality and delivered outstanding defense against extreme climate conditions. From our start in October 1959, the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) awarded Alpha contracts to produce jackets for American service members, including iconic styles such as the N-3B parka and the MA-1 flight jacket. Alpha grew rapidly during the 1960s, as the Vietnam War led to a substantial increase in DOD production contracts. Lessons learned from intense battlefield experience also led to new technological advances in fabric and the manufacturing process. Alpha soon began producing infantry jackets, including the iconic M-65 Field Coat made legendary during the Vietnam War. Today, Alpha Industries is known around the world for its high-quality, military-inspired outerwear. We continue to produce the classic military silhouettes that are core to our heritage, as well as modern innovations in style and function. Our top sellers include the MA-1 flight jacket, the M-65 field coat, the Slim-Fit N-3B parka and the G-1 leather bomber. But no matter the jacket, coat, or bomber, one thing will always hold true, the Alpha three-bar label will always represent the superior quality that we base our very reputation on. Alpha's ma-1 flight jacket with "blood chit" sewn on the inside lining was a type of flag that contained a message in several languages identifying an airman as a u. Aviator if they were shot down, to aid the airman in avoiding capture and in being returned safely to u. Forces. A reward was offered for this assistance.

A full dose of Oi!
Its thick, it's warm, and it says to the general public, "stay back 100 ft." I remember when these were the Skinhead 1.0 uniform and if you were wearing one, you probably gotta be ready to romper-stomp. However, and I'm sure not by accident, the hipster public has ID'd that "I'll mangle you" sentiment that goes hand-in hand with the bomber jacket and through their standard co-opt marketing, the 1.0 skinhead bomber jacket is the Look Du Jour. With that said, this thing is the head. Not flimsy or floppy like you want the cool skin look but still want your jacket to fit neatly into your Louis Vuiton purse. This thing is sturdy and thickk and will keep you warm while you're waiting for in line for Skrewdriver tickets and will look good on your girl while you're neck-deep in the mosh-pit.

The real deal.
I used to have an MA-1 Jacket back in the 80's in the UK. This is the real deal, good quality jacket. This is not no cheaply made, thin, shiny material knock off you see around high street stores for $30. Sometimes the phrase, "you get what you pay for" is actually true. I opted to pay more to get a better quality made jacket and it is definitely worth the money. The stitching all over the jacket is a good quality and strong. I have pulled on some of the fabric by the stitching and it does not separate like some cheaply machine stitched jackets you see. The zippers are of a real solid metal construction. Double zipper on the front for when you reverse the jacket. The zipper teeth are also very solidly made, nice thick teeth. Even the buttons on the outside and inside pockets look decent quality metal, not plastic like you see on some. The material looks slightly dulled, so it does not look shiny and cheap. As for measurements. Me personally i typically wear a medium in jackets, t-shirts, sweaters etc. My actual measurement with a tape measure is 38 chest. I ordered a small because the sizing chart said it goes up to a 39.5 and it fit perfectly. I think it depends how you like to wear your jackets. For me the MA-1 jacket is not supposed to be worn like a baggy jacket. Most people would only be wanting to wear a t-shirt underneath due to it being so warm. So that is personal preference. I probably could have gotten away with the medium, but as i only wear a t-shirt under it, it fits well.

Fits Great!
I am 5'7" 170lbs. After reading all the reviews of the jacket wearing short and exact fit, I decided to purchase a Large instead of a Medium. I think this was the right decision. I am able to wear a hoodie with enough room so to not make it look small on me. It does wear short so the large does fit better on the waist line. The jacket is also very warm with just a regular shirt underneath. My recommendation is also to by one size up.Why I didn't give it 5 stars. 2 reasons, the jacket does seem a little puffy when I first wore it. I've had similar cheaper jackets like this in the past and over time some of the puffiness does go away and wears better. I hope it is the same with this jacket. I will post again and let you know after several wears. Secondly, it's dry clean ONLY. This will cost extra to have it cleaned. Has anyone tried washing it by hand or a gentle cycle? As always, Amazon delivered in a timely manner. Thanks Amazon.

Bomber Jacket sizing
At first I thought it might look to small although it was comfortable on.The arms and shoulders are fitted. The waist band is right at my belt. I was not used to this fit.I googled how a bomber jacket should fit. Based on the you tube video as well as current styles and trends, it fits correctly. I usually wear an XL but sometimes get a XXL.I thought I needed a XXL after putting it on. Based on the above mentioned videos I decided to keep it.I get a lot of compliments on it.I’m 5’ 9” 210 lbs. 46 to 48 sport coat. Big chest 36 inch waist. Broad back.I lift weights but am not a bodybuilder.Your normal size is the size you should order if your ok with a more fitted style and snugger jacket.I don’t think you can step up a size though. Because of the intended cut necessary to suit the style, it would just fit weird.

Worth The Money
Totally happy.I'm six-feet and 250 lbs. But I'm solid built...sort of a linebacker frame. An XL would have been fine. But I'm usually conceal-carrying a pistol, extra mags, and a belt knife. So the XXL covers all of that nicely.Warmer than I expected. It'll be fine for the coldest day in the average Arkansas winter. And the extra stitching should assure this coat does not come apart. There is one thing I'd change. It has no inside breast pocket. I'm sure they are just being true to the historical design. I'm so used to reaching inside my coat for my wallet, it will take a while to get used to that. But the two outside and lower inside pockets give plenty of room.Neat feature...there are even caps at the bottom of the pencil sleeves to keep a sharp point from poking through. Nice little detail. If you can afford this over the fifty-dollar knock-offs, you'll be happy. It should last through years of hard use.

It's 4x the cheap imports, but you get what you pay for
I've been buying Alpha's for 25 years, and each time I grumble about the price and go buy an import. I get PO'd even worse with the quality, insulation, stitching etc of the import, and send it back. I then grumble a little more, then buy the Alpha like I should have to begin with. Believe me, you WILL be able to tell the difference, even the Chinese made Alpha's.My ONLY gripe: The Bloodchit's (this one) are made in China. AFAIK, a lot of their jackets are Chinese nowadays, and not made at their California plant. booo-hisss

Well made
This is a beautiful bomber jacket made by the company that made them for the military and the 1st company to make them. Comes with the red pull on the arm and is the only coat my 15 yr old son will wear! It has real leather pulls for the zippers and it seems like alot of care has gone into the making of these coats

Love this jacket!
I’ve always wanted a classic bomber jacket and I didn’t go wrong with this purchase! If you’re looking for a nice quality one, look no further cause is the best jacket you will find unless you go to something super high end. Fits as expected, looks great and is much warmer than I expected. Even at -5 C it is comfortable! Perfect for Canadian spring and fall it’s now my go to!

Highly recommended
I tried this jacket on in a store but they didn't have my size. The medium fits me perfectly, I'm 170cm and 77kg. The jacket feels very high quality and is well made. Highly recommended for anyone looking for this style of jacket. The price here on amazon was cheaper than the manufacturer's website.
