Thereโs never been a better time to discover the novels behind the blockbuster Starz original series Outlander . Blending rich historical fiction with riveting adventure and a truly epic love story, here are the first four books of Diana Gabaldonโs New York Times bestselling saga that introduced the world to the brilliant Claire Randall and valiant Highlander Jamie Fraser: OUTLANDER DRAGONFLY IN AMBER VOYAGER DRUMS OF AUTUMN Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenachโan โoutlanderโโin a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743. Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives. Praise for Diana Gabaldonโs Outlander novels โMarvelous and fantastic adventures, romance, sex . . . perfect escape reading.โ โ San Francisco Chronicle , on Outlander โHistory comes deliciously alive on the page.โ โNew York Daily News , on Outlander โGabaldon is a born storyteller. . . . The pages practically turn themselves.โ โ The Arizona Republic , on Dragonfly in Amber โTriumphant . . . Her use of historical detail and a truly adult love story confirm Gabaldon as a superior writer.โ โ Publishers Weekly , on Voyager โUnforgettable characters . . . richly embroidered with historical detail.โ โ The Cincinnati Post , on Drums of Autumn Review: Loved the stories, but SO graphic - I started out watching on TV. About 3 episodes in my cheeks were flaming scarlet and I found myself wondering if it was TV nonsense to raise viewership and maybe the books would be more reasonable. Well... they weren't. If flagrant and seeming WAAAYYYY excessive and DETAILED sex scenes aren't for you, you may have to pass on this series. I read the books despite them, not for them. I found these stories to be so well told, the characters so compelling that I stuck with them and enjoyed them immensely. The only disappointment being that the last book wasn't ready yet when I was ready for it. Skill of writing and presentation of this particular world, beyond 5 of 5. Would I recommend them to others? Yes based on the story. But not without significant qualifiers and consideration of who I was recommending them to. But the stories are great. Review: Outlander series - These were really nice books. Both box sets. They were a gift and she was very happy.

If you havenโt read any of these books yet, BEWARE.
I rated this 5 stars because of how much I absolutely LOVED the first book. The characters are so well developed itโs hard to think of them as characters and not real people. The story is truly mind blowing, and the attention to detail about the history of the time is incredible. Truly a stunning piece of work in all aspects. Not to mention Iโm completely head over heels for Jamie Fraser. *swoon* No better male hero has ever existed. That being said, I unfortunately have to report that the series continually gets worse as you go on. I still greatly enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd for the most part, although I wasnโt as on board with where the story was going and it seemed like Diana kept introducing more and more wild plot lines with no explanations. Then the 4th book. Oh where to begin. What an utter disappointment. The characters I love so much have started to become a shell of who they were in the first book. New characters are mediocre at best, and hateful at their worst. Not hateful because theyโre good villains, no; theyโre hateful because theyโre so pathetically constructed and underwhelmingly developed. And the amount of detail about things that donโt matter is so hard to get through. You could probably eliminate a good 300 pages of just description and the story would be exactly the same. Speaking of the actual story, this amazing action/adventure/romance/fantasy series that I have come to know and love felt much more like a cheesy soap opera than anything in the 4th book. Yikes. Iโm currently on the 5th book, The Fiery Cross, and Iโm only a few chapters in and already Iโm bored and disappointed. Letโs hope it turns around.....But yeah. I still recommend it because the first is so amazing itโs worth it, but beware...youโre signing up for heartbreak. **UPDATE: I quit. I read about halfway through the 5th book and decided I couldnโt take it anymore. I looked up a summary online and true to form, it continues to spiral downward with outrageous plot lines. Iโm not even sure how a writer DOES that - goes from fantastic/amazing/revolutionary to insultingly terrible within the same series, but never fear, Diana is here to show us it is possible. The first chapter of the 5th book is literally called โThe Longest Dayโ and BY GEORGE I am here to tell you that it was literally the longest day(s!! because it is that long) of my life struggling through it. I donโt even know how I can love and hate something so passionately at the same time. Is this what itโs like to be a teenager in a vampire drama series?? Just do yourself a favor and only buy the first two books. If there is anybody who actually does want to continue reading the 5th and 6th books because theyโre still in denial, hmu because I do not need that reminder of disappointment and sorrow sitting on my shelf.

What a saga!!!
I love to read. But I love to read to escape and travel around the world and through time. So After watching the show, I checked out the books from the library. I have now purchased my own copies as I have loved the stories so so much. My usual Authors include Nora Roberts, Cassandra Clare, Debbie Macomber, Charlaine Harris, and I even liked the Stephanie Meyers books. I read for entertainment most often. Yes I love romance, But I also love detective stories, and really like the Richard Castle books. So on to the Outlander box set. I have read some of the reviews that people were shocked and horrified by Jamie Spanking Claire, about the rape scenes, and the sexual violence. Well, While they are not my favorite, That is the history of the world. These things actually happened back then. Back in that time period, Women were supposed to be subservient, and the Men doled out punishment. While Claire is a woman out of time, she has a whole other set of values. She is a woman from the 20th Century, thrust into the 18th century. Where women from the 20th century are not generally afraid of men or wary of them, especially a wartime nurse, the average woman in the 18th century were taught to be wary of men. So based on those items, I found it fascinating that she stood up to the men, and expected to be treated as an equal, and refused to be subservient to them. I loved that Diana intermixed history with a really good story. Each subsequent book has gotten better and better, adding more colorful characters and situations. With the outlander story, we see Claire doing her best to get back to her own time, until she realizes she truly loves Jaime and would rather stay with him than to go back to her own time. So If you go into the book with realizing that the 18th century is vastly different from the 20th century in the way they treat women then you will enjoy this book series.

The series and books were very good. I gave it a 4 for the quality of the book's not the series.
The book's are small as is the writing. My husband found pages falling out. You have to open the book wider in order to see all the words. We saw the series and now he is reading the books. The books are very good.

Genial!!!
No dejรฉis de leerla.

Edizione comoda
