Cheaper than the competition at the time
Having busted a previous Pi camera trying to remove the IR filter, I needed a replacement. This one seemed good value at the time. Has worked out well, picture quality compares well with a couple of other similar cameras. I don't use the IR LED's so can't comment on them.

Good basic camera to try out night photography but would pay more for a practical camera
Camera tiny but reasonable quality. IR lights are on permanently so a relay of some kind needed in series to prevent overheating. Awaiting a method of mounting to test properly.

Does what it says, works in the dark
Whats to like. It works in the dark. Pitch black and the image is what you see in the picture. That purple hue is there during daylight though as well as night. I am using this with octoprint and the pi zero2w works perfectly with it. Focussed in on the centre of the bed it is pretty sharp. But as the hotend is at its furthest away it is slightly blurred, not an issue, just worth knowing that at this range from the subject the focal range is tight and a foot away things get blurry. That said, the fact this is in absolute darkness makes it a capable little camera and saves having to keep a light on. What's not to like? Camera and infra red lights come in 3 parts. It is fiddly to put together if you have big fingers. But not a deal breaker. The infra red illumination is lit permanently. Not really happy with that but again, if you are buying a camera for its infra red ability maybe that is just the way it is so we need to temper expectations there. Final potential downside is the fact that because the infra reds are on permanently the daylight images are corrupted by that light and have an unnatural hue to them. I wish there was a switch that would allow the infra reds to be turned off. But there isn't, and it wouldn't be an easy task to do either as the power for them is taken from the mounts where the screws attach, there are no wires. When all is said and done though, I bought this for the purpose of not having to keep the printer lit up by house lights when checking remotely. It does that perfectly so I am not complaining.

Works but pink
Camera came on fine but very hot and a terrible pink hue with or without ir sensors. Tried everything to adjust settings but always had pink hue. Removed the ir sensors and the image became colour but still with a terrible pink hue White balance is completely ineffective Item returned.

Needs better/more IR
You need to power the IR LED a lot to produce enough IR to work further than a few feet. Good enough to pick up in dusk conditions.

Worked out of box with Octoprint
Have just unboxed this great little gismo, plugged it in and it worked with a Raspberru Pi 4 Model B running Octopi 0.17.0. without doing a thing. There are no instructions supplied but i dont see as any are required. A very small Philips type screwdriver is required to assemble the unit if the LEDs are to be used (screws are approx M1 -M1.5 x approx 8mm long) Have not used in dark or low light yet (may not ever?), have not changed resolution - focuses down to approx 10mm easily but obviously depth of field is short. Generally would recommend so far.

Good night vision camera
This is a decent night vision camera. Works very simply and is good.

Okay at first but didn't last long
At first this camera performed adequately for my needs. It wasn't the best picture quality but it was fine for my needs. The camera has been used about twice a week for 4 weeks. Last night the camera would not work at all. The output was a corrupted frame buffer. I tried changing the camera cable as these are a point of weakness with any R-Pi camera. Even with a brand new cable the display buffer was corrupt. On close inspection I noticed corrosion around one of the pads connecting the camera to one of the infra-red LED modules (pictured). This camera has only ever been used indoors and has never been exposed to moisture. I can't recommend this camera module. If it can't last for longer than 4 weeks then it is not fit for purpose.
