Terrific product for temporary use. Easy to use. Effective and FANTASTIC!
This product is fantastic! My dark blond (and darker) hair turns white/gray after several weeks post hair dresser, and I just brush this on in strips. It tones down the white/gray and warms up my hair. I’m amazed how handy this is to tide me over until I can get in to the hairdresser! I use Dark Blond. It has a nice warm, soft brown color. It blends in perfectly and naturally. It’s also good for the spots on the scalp that look thin. Terrific product!

Natural looking, Medium Brown, scalp cover and gray roots cover
I've been using Color Wow to cover gray roots between salon visits as well as filling in sparseness where I could see my pink scalp peeking through at the top/front. It works great for me. I use the Medium Brown color and I think (I hope) it's natural looking and undetectable. I wouldn't say it gives complete coverage to solid gray hair but if you are like me, maybe a mix of some percentage of brown and gray hair, it does a pretty good job of covering. I try to avoid getting it into the part itself. I think it looks more natural to "paint" in strokes going away from the part to cover the hair, rather than wildly spreading it all over the part. Also, try to use a light hand when doing your hairline at your forehead. You don't want a sharp, obvious, unnatural line of demarcation. If you use too much you can wipe away and soften/blur the line with a tissue. A little goes a long way. Don’t feel like you need to keep reapplying it to the brush. Use sparingly. It lasts all day, even multiple days if you aren't washing your hair. It may rub off on your pillow case depending on how much you use and how you sleep (stomach, side or back). I really don't notice it on my pillow case except for once in a while, so I can't say it never happens. One compact lasts a long time for me, like a 2-3 years. It just depends how much and how often you use. I only need to use it a couple days a week. Here's my before pic (upper right) and after pics (lower right) looking down at my center part as well as another after pic looking straight ahead (the larger pic on the left side) to show the filling in of sparseness at hairline (forehead).

“Perfect for Touch-Ups Between Salon Visits”
I’m very satisfied with COLOR WOW Root Cover Up! It works wonderfully to cover gray roots and does a great job overall. Gives a natural look, very easy to use and provides instant coverage—just apply with the brush and it washes out easily in the shower. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to touch up roots between colorings!

Fantastic, with a couple drawbacks
I'm Jim's wife, not Jim. :) I have a few random grays throughout my dark brown hair, but my main problems are at my temples and one streak in my bangs. Well, it would be a streak, but I won't allow that to happen. Because I don't have a huge problem with the gray, and because, when I do get my hair done I'm only matching my natural color, I don't want to go more often than I need. It feels ridiculous to go and spend all that time and money on color when I just have a couple problem areas. At the same time, I am SO self-conscious about my gray that I can't just leave it alone either! Hence, my decision to try this out. It's been over 2 months since I went to the salon. I purchased this to tide me over until the next trip. Overall, I'm really happy with it! I use the small end to apply the powder to my problem areas. It shade the skin underneath the hair (which I guess is why some people use it to make their thinning hair look fuller) and it also coats the strands with color. It doesn't make the gray hair as dark as the others, but it darkens it enough so that it blends in naturally. I was thrilled! Apparently, it's supposed to last until the next shampooing. I didn't find this to be true at all. I'll apply it in the morning before work, and if I'm heading out at night I might touch it up again. I'll definitely need to apply it again the next morning. An irritating side effect is that the powder gets under my nails and makes me look like a serial gardener. This is probably because I'm habitually running my fingers through my hair. It washed out fairy easily, but it was another thing for me to be self-conscious about! Anyway, my solution was to keep my fingernails painted. :) All in all, four stars! The missing star is due to the fact that it needs reapplication fairly frequently and it sticks under my fingernails. But all in all, I'm thrilled!

Dark Brown: Buyers Beware
After reading so many great reviews, and seeing before/after pics, I decided to give this product a try. Although the price was steep (for eyeshadow sized powder), I figured if it truly works, it’ll be worth it. Plus, I needed quick coverage to take some photos. I have long dark brown hair & at the time my grays, which are more silvery/white, needed coverage of about an inch. WELL, I cannot begin to express how LONG (hrs) it took and how much I had to “blot” onto the same spot to “cover the gray” and just at the top where my roots were exposed from parted line! The “positive”: the powder eventually “covered” but that was after applying so much over and over to the same spots. Although, it never truly got to the “dark brown” … but it was basically a shade lighter so it kind of blended. Maybe it would’ve looked dark brown on someone with darker “pepper” grays vs lighter “salt” grays. 🤷🏻♀️ NEGATIVES: you cannot touch your hair afterwards to fix, scratch, and definitely not to run fingers through (beware of a breeze)!! The loose powder on scalp transfers onto your fingers/hands (my fingers looked like I was prepping to be finger printed lol) and it also causes loose powder on scalp to find its way to your face! Trying to remove black powder falling on face after applying make-up and minutes before my photos…nightmare!! 👎 And I didn’t even apply my makeup until after I applied WOW to my roots just in case. Unfortunately, I only used this product once but it was too late for me to return it, so it was money wasted. That said, I figured I’d write my first ever review to hopefully save someone else time and money.

Best temporary gray coverage ever!
This stuff really works! No sticky residue, and simple to apply. Highly recommend for your in between colorings.

Need a wider applicator
Love the formula as it covers really well and blends naturally. I find the brush is too small and narrow and makes this such a long process to apply and wish they would offer a wider brush with the same hair quality so it would make the application a lot faster especially in the middle. I still like the precision brush for around the hair line.

Great product for covering gray hair before next color treatment.
This is a great product. I start using it about a week before I get my colored again. It's easy to use and really does a great job of coloring the gray. It's not cakey, goopie, or unnatural looking. It's a powder that stays in place once brushed on, and washes out when you wash your hair. My hair stylist recommended this. It's so nice to have the gray completely touched up in this way. A quick few swipes and your good for the day.
