Crochet Cute Critters: 26 Easy Amigurumi Patterns

I only just learned to crochet right before the pandemic hit. After experimenting with a few hats, baby booties, and a couple of baby blankets, I happened on this book. The animal patterns are sooo cute. It was love at first sight. And the word "easy" on the cover was the clincher. I had to buy the book! Fast forward three months, and by now I've made a dozen of the animals in the book, including a dinosaur from a free pattern on the author's website. My four-year-old granddaughter has just received the unicorn I made for her, and she proclaimed it to be "the best unicorn in the world." She even dressed it in a pair of her little sister's pajamas when she took it to bed with her. The patterns really are good for beginning crocheters like me, but I daresay they will be equally enjoyed by more experienced crocheters. The animal body parts are mostly the same from animal to animal, which means the patterns become even easier, the more animals you make. Variations in tails, noses, ears, and, of course, yarn colors, give each animal its special charm. I highly recommend this book!

The corner of the book came bent because of shipping, but that's a drawback of paperback. I worked up Junior the Jellyfish, and the pattern is easy to follow. The abbreviations and information about the process can be found in the front of the book. It lists Bernat super value on each pattern, but the introduction says clearly that you can use any worsted weight yarn. The one I made was Red Heart super saver. I definitely recommend this book if you have any interest in amigurumi. It's pretty easy to follow the patterns. It's great for beginners, since this was only the second stuffed animal I crocheted and the second pattern I followed. This book is worth the money.

This is a good book for beginner crocheters. She provides cute patterns and fairly clear instructions. Their are a few things I would have preferred which made me give it a four instead of five stars: 1. The book should be spiral bound so that you can keep it open while you work 2. It would be nice to have an illustration of what each end piece should look like. While the photos are absolutely beautiful, it was hard to tell, for example, if I had the correct shape for the monkey eye piece. 3. Personally I found the yarn she recommended not the most beginner friendly. While I've been crocheting a number of years now, I am actually only just learning to read patterns, and I did find this book to be fairly clear and beginner friendly, there were just a few places where I was left a bit frustrated or confused.

Easy to follow.

I have had so much fun with this book. I love that you can make so many cute creatures with just a few basic stitches. You don't need to buy a kit; just get yarn and a hook and off you go. The safety eyes and nose are so cute, but a few little stitches with yarn would suffice if you'd rather go that way. I am on my 7th critter. ME!! Me, who so rarely finishes a project.

Made a pink and purple giraffe!! Added a few rows to the neck but I think he is super cute!! I love you patterns will be making more!!

Gift for a pre-teen; she liked this instructionsl crochet book.

There are many different patterns to choose from. My 19 year old niece recently started so I bought this for her and she made this for my mum in a week. She loved it so very much. She noted that in some parts it was more difficult to follow than others but it is very well illustrated and great quality book.

Very happy with the instructions. I am a beginner and the book is really good.
