Nib is excellent as always with Lamy
I’ve grown up with Lamy Safari fountain pens and I still use them to this day. As a Gen-X German child these were what most of us used throughout our educational years starting from elementary school to university. I have always preferred the black steel over the polished steel version. I have no clue as to why this is, but they agreed more with the way I write. I have never used anything better than their entry-level nibs (Z50). I prefer B sized nibs, but can write well with M nibs as well. I have varying sized handwriting, depending on what I wrote on (narrow or wide ruled, grid, etc) but naturally tend to have larger handwriting (I can write cursive, but prefer to print). I bought this EF nib to use in a journal that has 5mm grid matrix. This nib fits the bill. It doesn’t scratch, the ink flows as is standard with Lamy and I have absolutely no complaints. However, mine came shipped unprotected, thrown into an oversized plastic bag. I was astonished. I immediately inspected the nib with magnification to ensure it wasn’t damaged before I decided to put it on my trusty Safari. I was lucky. It’s perfect. I would subtract two stars for that, but it isn’t the product’s fault. This made me think that a lot of the reviews that mention that their nibs scratch horribly or have intermittent flow problems might have gotten a damaged nib. They are tiny, damage is hard to discern. If the blades are even slightly misaligned or the ball is scratched or otherwise damaged it definitely won’t perform like it should.See attached pic of packaging.

Smaller & smoother than silver steel nib?!
I really wanted to like Lamy pens, but I wasn’t into the Safari Vista EF as there was quite a bit of dry resistance while writing. I also ordered a cream-colored limited edition Safari with an F nib, but knowing that I need finer tips for my smaller writing, ordered this too just in case. So glad I did. This is perfect — in fact, somehow better than what comes on the pens normally in my opinion/experience.There could just be a very slight & coincidental difference in the nibs & pens I have, but I swear this one writes more smoothly with less drag/feedback compared to the silver one that came on my Safari. You can tell from the photo that it’s slightly smaller, too.Swapping is super easy. I was daunted, but all you need is a piece of tape and a sink to do it over to avoid the mess. How to swap: Take apart the pen, remove the cartridge, clean & dry the nib end. Stick a piece of tape to the flat top surface of the nib and slide it downward & off. Slide the new nib all the way on, and then put the cartridge back in/pen back together. Boom.Best of luck :)

Great nib but wish it was finer
I know that western style nibs tend to run broader than their Asian counterparts, but still, I wish this nib was finer. It was very easy to install and change out the nib already on the pen. It writes smoothly. But the flow and line are more like a juicy fine than an extra fine. Most EF nibs I've used are a bit more scratchy and offer more tactile feedback on the paper, which I like.

A little break-in needed.
But it is still, obviously, the highest quality nib that I have. It writes very smooth.

This is about the nib... not the pen.
I already like my Lamy Safari fountain pen. I was looking for a thinner nib, though. So, I went from fine to the extra fine. From examples I saw online, I was expecting a difference. I did not notice much, if at all. So, I either got a bad nib, or the Lamy EF nib just isn't extra fine (as I would think it should be).

Very smooth, high quality nib
I love this nib. It is way smoother than the nib that I originally bought with my Lamy Vista. The extra fine nib is still a little thick. I would say the thickness of a 0.7 ballpoint pen. Regardless, then pen is now my favorite pen and I love writing with it.Also, I thought that this only came with one nib, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that my order came with two nibs.

Love Lamy
I have four Lamy pens. One didn’t have an extra fine nib. I ordered this and it’s perfect.

Buen grosor de trazo
El punto medio siempre me ha parecido muy grueso, pero con esta punta se controla mucho mejor el flujo de tinta. Se puede intalar fácilmente.
