Easy to read. All revenant topics and an exam with explanation for each answer

I am preparing for the IC&RC's Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor which here in Louisiana requires a Master's degree and is the highest level of addiction license (LAC). As we all know exam fees are not cheap so I would rather invest in materials then take the exam several times. One of the points about exam study material is that it is considered unethical to actually give you a good idea what to study so vendors do their best to guess what will be on the exam as it changes with every test. The test taker is also faced with trying to figure out the best possible answer, sometimes we even think we are trying to guess the answer the test developers want which may be different from our "gut answer". The IC&RC recommends a study guide I bought from another company which I found to be worthless in preparing for this exam. This is a good study guide but it is a little fragmented, it jumps around a lot. Anything that makes you think of a scenario with you and a client is a good study guide. Speaking of scenarios, this guide has none, where as the exam has almost 15 questions about a case presentation. My advice for the publisher is get serious about the topic and add a REAL table of contents, an index and a glossary. Also, put the page number the practice question answer came from.

I took my NCE this summer, and going into the test felt extremely prepared by the material I had studied. In contrast, this textbook has left me feeling anxious and unprepared.The reason for this is not just the poor format - categories are poorly defined (such as a section entitled Mescaline and Hashish, wherein the first sentence covers mescaline and the remainder of the section focuses on hash, with no link between them in or out of the text), but also due to accuracy issues that call into questions the entire book.Examples of accuracy issues include the books assertion that cocaine is the most widely abused illicit drug in the United States (this is blatantly wrong), the incorrect dates of prohibition, among many others.While certain sections are written with accuracy and clarity, others use an organizational style that is confusing and not easily retained, and make assertions that (upon further research) appear to have no scientific backing, such as the statement that meth-induced formication is caused by the release of “toxins.”I have now read the entire book, trying to be fair and also using the areas covered to inform outside research (such as on the NIH and SAMHSA websites), so I can confidently say that these issues run through the length of the book.This is not worth your money or time. It’s sad, as the other texts specifically addressing the MAC are entirely overpriced, and so this may leave many counselors studying for the test without good options.

I purchased Master Addiction Counselor exsam study guide last years and took Mac exam in October 2019.I failed by 5 points. However your product helped me raised my score. I was so close to pass.

It is providing me with a lot of information to study for my exam. A friend of mine referred me to this product saying it helped him prepare for his exam and pass with flying colors. I know this product will help me a lot as well.

I have not taken the exam yet. If this book is truely like the exam it is very beneficial at narrowing down what to study. I have other study materials but this is great at narrowing down the amount of information to focus in on.

The study guide is well written with only a few spelling and grammar errors. The sections are easily digestible, not to short or long. Some of the content might benefit from being more current. Overall, my money was very well spent and I appreciate the help as I prepare to take the MAC exam.
