Lots of bang for my buck!
I purchased this particular computer because of the smaller size and economical price. The lid on my laptop gave up the ghost and my desk is small. I love it. It fits nicely on the desk and it is working just fine. I had no problem setting it up. I am new to Windows 8 but no problems there either. It boots up much faster than my old computer which was about seven years old. Plenty of oomph for my needs. I already had a nice monitor from a previous laptop and a wireless keyboard and mouse, so my buy-in was minimal. Dell sent me a $25.00 gift card when I registered the computer and I used it to buy USB speakers. I had originally purchased non-Dell wireless speaker but it pooped out almost immediately and I returned it for a refund. The silver lining was being able to use the Dell gift certificate for speakers, making them free to me. The unit is also attractive. The front is actually glossy, not matte finished, as the picture seems to imply. This is my third purchase of a Dell computer. I've had a desktop and laptop from them previously. I think this is a good buy from a company that I trust for quality and customer service.

For the Price, there is nothing better...
Performance wise, this computer stands up really well. The processor in this is extremely solid for those on a budget. Some things that stand out to me: - 4th Generation Intel Pentium (Haswell) processor (Released in Q2 of 2014) - One 4GB stick of RAM (better than 2X2 GB, because you can easily upgrade to 8GB) - On board WiFi, Bluetooth, and HDMI along with 6 USB 2.0 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports (you just don't see that for this price) In the short time I have had this computer, I have been thoroughly impressed. I use it as a Home Theater PC and I have not been disappointed. It is small and sleek looking so it doesn't look out of place below the TV. It runs very quiet and cool (even during downloading and video playback, the fan doesn't pick up at all!). And I am not concerned about leaving it on all the time because it is very energy efficient. This isn't going to blow your socks off. But it is not meant to. For this price ($250 whenever I bought) it is hands down THE best computer there is. Bottom line: If you need a computer for every day tasks such as web browsing, email, media playback, Microsoft Office work, and even light gaming, this is the computer for you. It will fly through these tasks without a hiccup. And with on-board WiFi and bluetooth, there are even fewer cables. Now if you are looking for a top of the line gaming PC, obviously this isn't for you...

Winner winner chicken dinner
Ok I am going to break this down into 3 parts. First the computer itself. I got in at the $250 price level and I am very happy for the money. No not blazing fast but if you are replacing an older PC you will be amazed. I replaced a high end gaming rig (5 years old) due to a hard drive failure and I find this PC loads faster and handles the web, emails, video, and day to day tasks fine. No I will not be playing and FPS game on it I haven't for years. The hard drive is a little small and there are no open bays to put another one it but I will be doing my back ups and mass storage to an external drive. I may up the RAM to 8Gig but so far do not feel the need. DVD RW drive works well and it has lots of USB ports. It has a small foot print on the desk top, again nice compared next to my old rig. Second, Windows 8.......With some tinkering it can be configured to look like Windows 7. No Office software included of any kind. I do have a an older version of Office but wanted to try something new. No way was I going to pony up for Office 2013 or 365 so I installed Libre Office (freeware) and OMG what a great piece of software. All the things I need and just as good as Office 2013 (which I use at work) check it out. As for Windows 8 apps I am underwhelmed. Not nearly as many as Android or Apple and I just don't get it, when I am on my PC I like to multi task, lots of windows open, checking Wiki, my bank account and the weather all at once. With an app you are tied to one thing, period. Also in order to use any apps you will have to give some personal information to Micro Soft, no more than what you give for a new smart phone but it still bothers me. Third, it was 19 days from order to ship from Amazon.(then 3 days in shipping) That's a long time to wait but FOR THE PRICE it was worth it. Also be careful who you get it from, MAKE SURE you are getting it directly from Amazon not one of their re-sellers or vendors. There have been reports of new computers arriving with all sorts of pre-instaled ad-ware and worse. I would absolutely do this again, but remember my needs no longer include graphic intensive games.

This Inspiron i3647 is an extremely good computer for the price
Bought this to replace a Dell Inspiron 520 that finally kicked the bucket after running 24/7 for the past 7 years. This Inspiron i3647 is an extremely good computer for the price, in my opinion, based on the specs and performance. It's fast. And cheap. Mainly used by my husband and kids as a "family" computer. They surf the web, play browser flash-based games and a couple of lightweight PC games, as well as stream music and video without any problems. I was worried about it's multimedia capacity since it doesn't have a dedicated/discreet graphics card, but it works well for our needs. I wouldn't expect any heavy graphics intensive 3D gaming out of it though.

GREAT DELL DESKTOP i3647-1234BLK
This computer is excellent! We do not have fast speed internet. This computer is so fast we do not need it. The key board is hard to get used to for it is so flat I can not type my 100+ words a minute It will just take me awhile to get used to the keyboard. Excellent delivery service. Excellent price. We could not be happier. It is also a slim line one and only takes up a small space. Our other Dell one was a 2003 year. Look how long it lasted. You can not go wrong in my opinion. DELL IS THE ONLY COMPUTER WE WOULD EVER HAVE.

Did add 4 GB more of RAM about a week after getting it which reduced the annoying performance to some degree but
I have never rated anything 1 Star before. I am not a complainer. But,,, this computer has been nothing but trouble since day one of receiving it. I don't see others rating it low so I will assume I just got a lemon..!! From day one Proxy Server Not Responding.. lock ups in the middle of something.. Won't allow a start up.. won't allow a Legal Shut Down.. Have to do illegal shut downs then boot back up several times a day just to Shut down.. Etc... etc.. etc.. Did add 4 GB more of RAM about a week after getting it which reduced the annoying performance to some degree but.. it still operates doing simply functions at about 80%. This is my first Dell and frankly my last. We have tried to work out problems without returning it but you can only be patient so long before you conclude you got a lemon. Hopefully no others have experienced the annoying and continuous problems we have had. At first I thought it might be Windows 8.1 but we purchased a Toshiba and Asus laptop with Windows 8.1 about the same time and no problems at all on those two computers. I have never had any problems with any of our desktops before this Dell. At this point we get error messages simply trying to connect our printer to this machine.. Still no clue why it won't function.. So again.. hopefully others have had a better experience but our Dell isn't so swell..!! Good luck if you purchase.....

Dell Inspiron i3647-1234BLK Desktop
Nice little computer. Runs really well. I immediately installed windows 10 on it the day I got it and Windows 10 runs really well on the small footprint computer. Good buy for the money.

Dell fan but wouldn't buy this one again
Died after nine months of use. It has been a good little computer and I can't rule out a power-surge etc although that seems unlikely as the other systems in the house have all been fine. I'm sure on the whole they are fine little computers, but this one is what it is and that's a lemon... Also, it's very unclear what the warranty is. The document provided by the sell simply states it could have a 90 day, 1 year, 2 year or 3 year warranty. That doesn't really help much. It's not worth sending away and being without it, I'll get it sorted, just hate to put money into it so soon and given how little use it's actually had.
