A wonderful straight forward book on the "How To" on propergation
A wonderful straight forward book on the "How To" on propergation. For those who are intimidated or think this approach to expand your garden wealth is a bother, Carol (the queen of prooergation) takes the mystery out of it all and shows you just how easy and fun and rewarding it is with her step by step instructions and beautiful photos. This book is a great follow up to Carols BBC program A Year In A Cottage Garden now on Youtube. Carols infectious personality and passion for gardening can reawaken any old gardener to see your own garden with new eyes and try your hand at propergation. And anyone wanting to learn this timeless method should definately have this beautiful book in their gardening library.

Frustrating read
British plants with official names -- little we grow or recognize. Inspiring but tedious to read!

Really inspirational
I was always a bit scared of propagation techniques beyond sowing commercial seed or dividing clumps of plants, but this book has made me want to rush out and buy a cold frame (no space in my garden for a greenhouse) and have a go at taking cuttings. It is clear and manages to demystify the processes involved in propagating plants using a variety of techniques. There is also a useful guide to indicate which methods of propagation can be used on a variety of plants. I can see how you could quite easily save a lot of money using this book and a little patience to grow more plants for your garden instead of buying more from the garden centre. As a bonus is is visually appealing too - it looks lovely on your bookshelf and the photos inside are well done too. Would make a lovely gift.

Fantastic
Brilliant, I recommend this book to any keen gardener. The author’s enthusiasm comes across in every page. The wonder of initiating the creation of your own new plants, for free, is described on every page. Well illustrated, with high quality, stage-by-stage photographs. I am a novice gardener but have gained many new plants following the book and I look forward to planting the seeds I’ve saved in the spring.

One of the best
Somewhere between a gardening manual and a coffee table book, this lovely book covers pretty much everything a gardener needs to know about cuttings, divisions, seeds and more. Always enthusiastic for growing more plants, Carol's enthusiasm rubs off on anyone reading it. As ever Jonathan Buckley's photographs are superb. In addition to the photos of practical details there are beautiful shots of Carol's garden. These are quite inspirational, they show Carol in her garden surrounded by wonderful colours and textures, and here and there a few weeds growing in the path, to show Carol is just like the rest of us. Inspirational and aspirational.
