Jack Dempsey Stamped White Pillowcase Doll Kit, Sunbonnet Sue

This is for my son's Goddaughter, I wanted to do something for her because he is so crazy about her but; if i had known ahead of time, before ordering, I would have waited until I had a little more basic sewing experience under my belt. So many curves and back-stitching places, that for a novice like me was very frustrating. Still, lots and lots of FUN!! to actually MAKE A WHOLE DOLL and get to paint, embroider, hand-stitch, and machine stitch, stuff and form the doll, sew on tiny buttons and receive compliments on Facebook demands that I admit,"YES, It was worth the money, and Yes, I ordered another one! (I had all this stuffing left you see!!) (HaHaHa)

This comes with the cheapest material! I would not make it for my great grands out of this material. I did use it as a pattern to make it out of a good quality material, so for the pattern, I thank you. I would not recommend this particular product to anyone, but the doll & dress pattern can be traced and used, I would recommend a person should search for a pattern somewhere.else. Thank you!

I have been working on the doll an. It has been turning out great. But when i finished the dress i realized that the pattern makes the dress HUGE compared to the doll so i had the choice of either leaveing the dress as is being very big on the doll or undoing a bunch of stiching (which i have been doing by hand because i dont own a sewing machine yet) and cutting the dress to a smaller size.

The material was thinner than I thought it would be but makes a beautiful pillowcase doll

So sweet . I ordered 2. One for each of my granddaughters. Simple sewing directions. And room to personalize. Will need to buy stuffing and lace and ribbon, but marked well. Patterns pre printed so easy to do for beginners as well.

I am new at sewing so it was a little difficult for me. Having said that, she turned out really cute.

All previous pillowcase dolls I sewed were actually made from pillowcases and turned out lovely. This one is just a cut of material.. kind of takes away from the whole concept. I have not put it together yet. Seems a bit more work to it.

I bought three of these for my Grandma to make for my girls. She makes pillow cases for all her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids each year (about 60 pillowcases). She specifically requested Jack Dempsey, they're the best quality in her opinion. Very fast delivery, and she finished all three within two days (the cross stitch part). One thing she said is the ribbon wasn't included, so she will be buying some to coordinate.
