Stromberg CarlsonVG-04-4000 Louvered Tailgate for Ford , black

I installed it in about 15 minutes, and I'm not a do it yourself type of person. I don't recall it coming with any instructions, if it did there were so little it didn't matter. I had to look it up on Youtube. As far as sturdiness, I wiggles a bit too much for my liking, but not enough to be a complaint. It's never banging around making noise. I do have to shut it hard for it to lock. Looks wise, It's looks fantastic on the truck. I did move some heavy Coaches and the Weight didn't have any problems on the product. So far so good. It's not a Tailgate Replacement, it's an Alternative.

Purchased and installed this tailgate on my 2004 Ford F150. The product fit just fine but had a few installation issues. Installing and adjusting the side covers was difficult because the bottom attachment screw is not easily accessible with the tailgate installed and the passenger-side cover interferes with removal and installation of the tailgate. However, I did manage to get the screws tightened by having my wife hold the tailgate partially open. The product could be modified to locate the screw on the inside of the tailgate instead of on the bottom. The lock did not initially work properly. Removed the access panel and found the locking nut was not tightened at the factory. I also found everything worked better with a little grease applied to the tailgate latch mechanism. In my opinion, the lock will provide limited protection from theft since it can be disabled by removing the access panel from inside the truck bed. Overall, I was very satisfied with the product design and quality. Amazon shipped and delivered the product in two days with my Prime membership.

Arrived in good shape. Instructions were horrible. You are asked to insert screws you can't get to. Parts are supplied with no instructions as to there use. The return spring on the latch is too weak to move the handle back to the home position. It worked, but the quality leaves something to be desired. You can't stand on the open tailgate. You get what you pay for.

Part was sent did not fit and reorder part did fit. So basically tailgate specs and measurements differ from the actual size

the paint is coming off looks like it was used should have sent it back had some one to look at it

I ordered Stromberg Carlson louvered tail gate VG-04-4000 from amazon and it is not what they advertised. I am not happy with this item. It was hard to put together . It does not fit the truck like it should and you can not put anything on the tail gate that is heavy. It is also hard to shut.It is made of some kind of plastic that I did not want. I will not buy anything else from Stromberg Carlson for my truck. That is the first time I have bought anything from Amazon that I was not happy with. I am really not happy with it. I cant send it back , my husband tore up the box and had to make it work because I am leaving on a trip. Ugh!!!!!!
