Mini Hedgehog Finger Puppet, Brown, 1 EA

I was pleased at the quality of Folkmanis little fingerpuppets. They're detailed, cuddly and offer themselves up to a child's imagination. I love encouraging story telling in young children. The fingerpuppets can also be comforting in anxiety-producing or new situations. Easy to hold or put in a pocket or backpack. Good for quiet play and well-constructed. I like the design of the puppet's expressions. I would use them in a teaching situation, to encourage interaction between children just meeting each other. It's easier to communicate through a little animal's voice, sometimes, than to use your own voice. I'd recommend them for the first day at preschool, or as part of a play area probably through second grade and longer with Special Needs children.

I originally ordered one of these cuties (a hedgehog) , and my daughter liked it so much that I ended up buying two more, a bunny and a flying pig. They are cheap, high quality, sturdy and extremely cute. They can be used as finger puppets or just a small stuffed animals, like mascots of bigger ones which is what my daughters used them for. They are just the right size, not too big, not to small. I particularly like the pig the most, it looks like an angel pig No regrets whatsoever. I will probably be buying more of them, there are many, many more available

This was purchased as a stocking stuffer, as my kid mentioned that at school they were playing with "finger puffets (sic)" and she liked them. I saw this guy and thought he looked cute. When I opened him, the first thing I noticed was how small he is. The hand-model holding him has tiny, tiny hands. It was not a big deal, I just was a bit surprised. However, that was a plus, as it was a very good fit for a 5-year-old's hands. There are two ways to really use this as a finger puppet, neither of which is what I think of when I think of finger puppets. The hole is in the butt (never thought I would write that in a review). One way to play with him is by holding him facing toward you and move him around some that way. It makes him seem more like a pet to me. The other way is the traditional away from you one finger pose. In all honesty, it is easier just to hold him by his back and move him around. He is a soft critter, and plenty cuddly. My daughter slept with him for a few nights after getting him just because he was so soft, but she quickly moved back to Curious George after she sensed George's jealousy. She realized, as many of us have, that you do NOT upset a stuffed monkey. Things never end well. Still, he was a cuddly guy. She did not use him much as a finger puppet, and one reason is that as small as he is the hole was a bit too wide and too deep for her fingers. She had to use multiple, but then was not as easy to manipulate him. Again, it is probably just easier at that point to treat him like a stuffed animal. I was better able to use him as a finger puppet and did do a few little puppet shows for her from behind the couch. Unfortunately, one-hedgehog shows just get a bit boring after awhile. Everyone is a critic.

Purchased for a gift to go with a Hedgehog baby themed gift basket. It's so cute and soft and I'm sure will be played with for years. I've purchased many Folkmanis puppets throughout the years and that all have held up over time and still have excellent play value years later.

Totally cute. My grandson loved it even more so I gave it to him. These little finger puppets are highly recommended. Good workmanship, good materials and they resemble the animal they depict. I own a couple more and have more in my cart! So cute to just plot somewhere to bring a smile to your face when you catch a glimpse.

True to life and a good match for other finger puppets I use in my classroom

If it weren't for California law, I would have a real hedgehog. This was literally the next best thing. Remember that hedgehogs are usually nocturnal, so don't expect them to sleep soundly next to you at night. This puppet however has no such problem. He's usually quiet most of the night. Hedgehogs might be cute, but their diet should consist of high-protein insects - not salty or sweet foods that could make them get fat or sick. This puppet is good about keeping it's smallish size. Hedgehogs are not native to California, so if you release one into the wild, besides breaking the law, you almost guarantee the hedgehog's demise at the least, or a disruption of the local ecosystem at worst. Trust me, I'm no tree-hugger, but if the bugs in my area are helping to pollinate my gardens or orchards or farms, or if the birds need the bugs, I wouldn't want a cute but mean hedgehog messing with that. Fortunately, this hedgehog puppet is still legal to own in California, however I still wouldn't recommend releasing it into the wild.

High quality and very efficient delivery

I wanted to find a hedgehog for my grandaughter, and this was the only one suitable for a three year old. Even better that it is a finger puppet. She took it to bed with her that night, a sure sign that she loved it
