Paws Aboard Pool Pup Small Safety Steps

We installed over the weekend-DRILLED INTO OUR IN GROUND POOL DESIGN! Unfortunately it is way too small for our dogs, a miniture schnauzer and a jack russell under 12lbs. The steps are too narrow for a small dog to grab on with their back paws. They held on to the edge and were flailing trying to get their back legs to hold and grip to pull themselves up. I wish it worked!!!I understand the product video was a selling point, but perhaps only dogs with very short legs can use this...I mean TINY little legs...because our dogs are BOTH small-the Schnauzer is 9 lbs-the jack slightly more and they would both drown with this item. Sorry...I really wish it did work.

This product works as demonstrated however I may be purchasing an additional one to place side by side as its narrow and my cocker is hesitant to use.

The step is the perfect size for my 2 small chihuahua/chihuahua mixes and it keeps my mind at ease when I'm not at home. We moved into a house with a lap pool that has no stairs and just a metal ladder to get in and out. A full set of stairs would have cost $300-$500, so this saved me a lot of money and will give the pups a way to get out if they fall in. It even came with the drill bit to install the step into the concrete!
