Great Intro to the story of The Ring
Great intro to The Ring story. We're seeing SF Opera's production of The Ring this summer . It'll be new for us, so we're glad to get useful material like this to introduce us to the story

it is not close to the original Ring
I may have looked for the wrong thing. I wanted a version of the Nibelungenlied written for young people. this is not it.

Benjamin's Ring
This is a wonderful introduction to Wagner's "Ring Cycle." I purchased it for my teenage grandchildren who are just being introduced to opera. The book is slightly below their reading level, but does give a good introduction to the operas. There is a paucity of books to teach about these operas. Most are rather technical and far above their needs or knowledge (as well as mine).

Great retelling of a long opera for kids
Great retelling of a long opera for kids. My 5 and 7 year olds were begging to read another part every night. Actually lead to one asking to see the Met's production of the opera...and he sat and watched the better part of it! Wish there was something similar for other operas!

I purchased because I'm taking a cruise down the Rhine River. Honestly, the story is very complex and I think this book did a great job!

Outstanding Read
What an outstanding book that fills a niche for not only the young, but for opera lovers of all ages. This GEM of a book is filled with action and suspense and the beautiful illustrations bring the words to life. Once I started reading, I couldn't put the book down. Ms. Goldfarb out did herself and has a way with words. I could hear the music as I turned the pages. I can hardly wait to give "Benjamin's Ring" to my granddaughter, so she can enjoy it as much as I did. Bravo to Ms. Goldfarb!!!!!Judy Levy

A Genuine "Ringer"
"Benjamin's Ring" is an absorbing tale for children and at the same time an ingenuously captivating re-telling of Richard Wagner's four-part opera cycle, "The Ring of the Nibelungen." Author Roz Goldfarb and artist Geoffrey Moss have created a narrative that combines suspense and pleasure. Of equal importance, it also demonstrates our eternal faith that, after grim setbacks and dangers, good ultimately triumphs. A genuinely satisfying piece!

Great introduction to the Ring (Wagner).
One day my 7-year-old daughter heard the Ride of the Valkyries in the car. She got hooked on it. I had the idea to introduce her to more of the Ring, and looked for a story book of the plot. This one is absolutely perfect for a parent to read to a child. We have now ventured further into the music (Entry into Valhalla, Rhine Journey, Death March etc).
