Brother Seymour was a General in the Pentecostal faith.
Seymour's understanding of the tenets of the faith underscore his study of the Word and attention to the Holy Spirit. It was refreshing to read his published articles in his newsletter. Each one of the articles should be read by modern Pentecostals. Seymour's focus on unity at Azuza was profound. The early Pentecostal movement was marked by a holy unity. God Bless.

Apostolic Faith Church “Azusa Street 1906 -1920”
It gives a greater inside overview of Azusa Street revival before, during and after the touch of Gods finger. You see as the Holy Spirit releasing the presence of Christ with power through those of Faith for Healings and Miracles pointing to the Trinity. Leaving the sky filled in flames reaching the heavens as the water fall of flames from heaven touching the upward flames, these documented in the LA Newspaper of that time.

william Seymour a man who wanted the church to be one as christ intended
Good read, i like how in the beginning mr Seymour said that tongues were evidence of being filled with the holy spirit l, but soon after said it was love. Love was the sure fire evidence of being filled with the spirit of God, for God is love... there is also accounts of him being upstairs above the church (his home) and hearing strange babblings trying to counterfeit true tongues, and he would come down and cast the evils spirits out..... he also constantly warned people not to seek tongues, but rather the giver.

A great read for those seeking a deeper knowledge in how ...
This book has been such a blessing and eye opening to me. A great read for those seeking a deeper knowledge in how things came to be. It's helped me to let go of certain images I've created in my mind...just an all around great book! Thank you!

LEADER OF AZUSA STREET REVIVAL
The Azusa Street revival was the beginning of the Pentecostal Movement. This biography tells the story of the man William Seymour who was the most instrumental in bringing about this revival that provided a new dimension to modern Christanity. I shows how the natre and personality of Seymour influenced his spiritual development. A must read for all Evangelical and Pentecostal Christians.

In depth, thought provoking
Very good book. Very insightful. I learned a lot about the man and his movement. Like many biographies, I would have appreciated a greater highlight on the subject's weaknesses. I really enjoyed the combo of a biography and the actual writings of Seymour.

The Voice of William J. Seymour is Rediscovered
This book is an incredibly important addition to the Pentecostal discussion. The first half summarizes Charles Fox's Regent University dissertation "William J. Seymour: A critical investigation of his soteriology, pneumatology, and ecclesiology." Fox represents a well thought out contribution to analyzing Seymour not only as a pastor but as a theologian in his own right. Because of racism and a misunderstanding of Pentecostalism as "anti-intellectual," we have only recently examined this key figure as seriously as Fox does. His section is thorough, though one wishes that he had the space to expand and deepen his work in some places. In the second section, Fox's PhD supervisor Vinson Synan, long recognized as a leading scholar in Pentecostal history, introduces what is truly the boon of this book: All articles from The Apostolic Faith written by Seymour and a fully replicated edition of William J. Seymour's "Doctrines and Disciplines."The significance of this last segment could in no way be overstated. Seymour was the leader of the Azusa Street Mission Revival, where American Pentecostalism experienced it's international debut. Seymour's influence on the 1906-1909 revival has re-entered the academic arena through a plethora of works, but his original thought has been largely inaccessible except through the few articles attributed to him The Apostolic Faith. This is because his only significant original work ("Doctrines and Disciplines") has been incredibly difficult to get a hold of. Synan, sensitive to this increased interest in Seymour, has replicated as accurately as possible, this vital work in order to make it available to the wider academic and non-academic community. If you are interested in Pentecostalism, Pentecostal history, Christian race relations or Historical theology this book is a must buy. I am happy to say that I own a copy of this work and have already used it extensively in my own research on Pentecostalism through the University of Cambridge. My thanks to Charles Fox and Vinson Synan for making this work available to us.
