Can have 3 functions?
#1. Indoors; This pressed steel, and enameled in Deep Blue Sea color is OK for an economical kitchen set.The bowls are too small for cereal, but would be OK for hot cereals, cooked veggies, or some fruit. The 12oz. coffee cups will cool off quick because the steel is thin, but can be held as the heat doesn't transfer over to handle, nor does the rim become to hot.Plates are just right! Regular size, and all is light weight! Now this is sold as camping gear and there it will SHINE> #2; When summer rolls around and the kids want to pitch a tent in the backyard and play campers, they couldn't hurt these Coleman's to bad. Expect some dings and chips if the kids play to rough!#3: Lastly a college freshman could utilize this set just fine!Happy camping er whatever.....

Like Workin' on the Railroad...
I think in every Western there is a shot of guys sitting around a camp fire after a long day of riding/bulding a railroad/working a gold mine/robbing banks and trains/etc. In almost every shot, the guys are eating unidentifiable food off of blue tin plates. Well, you can't necessarily be in the movies, but you can have the plates. This set consists of four plates, four bowls and four mugs. Each piece is very sturdy is enameled in that famous blue (or red) with white specks. Kind of like looking up at a clear night sky when you're out camping. The pieces are sized well and should hold up to a lot of use outdoors. But here are the three reasons to get this set. First, the set is well made. You won't have to worry about sawing through your paper plate (and your leg), or your plastic plate flipping over. You won't have to worry about your hot coffee melting through the flimsy paper cup, or your half-eaten plastic bowl of cereal blowing away.Second, hauling paper and plastic dinnerware to a campsite or a picnic site creates garbage. Garbage attracts pests and animals. Garbage stinks and creates litter. Garbage eventually has to be buried somewhere to rot, sometimes for hundreds or thousands of years. Or you could just use this set, wash it off and then use it again. Your call...Third, it just looks cool. Plain and simple. The bottom line is good value, good for the environment, good purchase for you!

It is sturdy enough to get beat up thrown around in the ...
I use this dish set every time I go camping. It is sturdy enough to get beat up thrown around in the camping gear, can handle everything I throw at it - from beef stew, to grilled steaks, to a bowl of cereal and a cup of hot coffee in the morning. No paper plates to get soaked through or torn up by steak knife. And reusable dishes are better for the environment than disposables. Easy to clean with just a dishrag, a little dish soap, and a bucket of cold water at the camp site. These dishes are a camping staple in my family -- I bought this set for my son when he got old enough to go camping on his own.

Good camp dishes that can be warmed up on top of a pan on a propane stove at a cold camp. Cant do that with plastic!
We bought this set to add to the enamelware set we have had for 30 years. They are not quite the same quality, and as other reviewers have said, there are some imperfections in both the metal and enamel coat; but they are fine for camping dishes and will work quite well. It's too early to tell whether they will hold up as well as our 30 year old set has, but so far so good. They even withstood being heated on top of our pans on the propane stove just like our old dishes do. They did not warp or pop at all, and that is a pretty good test for camp dishes being used in cooler weather. We are happy with them, and it is great to have enough camp dishes that can be warmed up now that our "kids" are married and we have an expanded family.

A true buy it for life item. The strength of these dishes far surpassed my expectations. The dishes allow for no flex at all.

Great Quality Camping Gear
No more melted styrofoam plates for us any more when we go camping. Real food off the grill needs real plates! These are very durable and a nice size.

Classic, but chips.
Overall, this set isn't bad for what it's intended.I was disappointed when a cup and plate were chipped out of the box. It was something which happened after it was placed in the box, as the chips/dust were still in the box. Something Coleman could prevent with a little more care in packaging. However, I don't expect that to happen. They're having things made in China for a reason, and quality isn't one of them.I also picked up a red set like this from a local retailer, and it also had a cup and bowl which were chipped. It's nothing a little enamel can't patch up, but it's the point of the matter. The plates are decent size, and work well for camping. They're not huge, but work out well nonetheless.I am only rating this at 3 stars, simply for the packaging issue. It shouldn't be a problem, and Coleman is cutting corners. Personally, I'd rather pay $5 or $10 more, and have their stuff made here in the USA where quality would be better.

Camp plates
Great set of plates, don’t expect perfection in the enamel finish, however for a set of plates that live at camp where some chips and dents are all part of the fun they are perfect!
