A friend recommended I try the rubber backings and I will never ...
These ribber pin backs are essential for anyone wearing badges/name tags on a daily basis. I work as an EMT and have used the standard metal butterfly clutch pin backings (dammits) for most of my career. A friend recommended I try the rubber backings and I will never go back! You will never again have to worry about your pin backing falling off, slipping out, and getting stuck somewhere in the abyss of your tucked in shirt (this used to happen to me almost daily.) These stay on strong and don't move. My only (small) complaint is that once they're on, they can be hard to get back off - the little grip is small and hard to grasp to pull off. However that's small potatoes compared to all the troubles with using the other metal ones. They also come in a variety of colors (I've seen them in black, navy, white, red, gold, pink) so no matter what color your shirt is, you'll match. This bag came with 100 rubber backs, which is more than you should ever need in a lifetime. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a better way to secure their pins.

much cheaper (they also hurt less if a seat-belt or inebriated and highly annoyed local citizen applies sudden dynamic pressure in the region ...
If you are LEO (or, I suppose military) or in any other service/career that requires you to wear the assorted tags, ranks, and other baubles that are constantly falling off, having a bag of these in your desk can save you a lot of embarrassment and grief. I ran a shift for a municipal PD and kept a bag of these on hand (and a few in my pocket) not only to keep my uniform up to spec but to help my crew stay looking sharp. They don't last forever but then neither do the metal ones and these are much, much cheaper (they also hurt less if a seat-belt or inebriated and highly annoyed local citizen applies sudden dynamic pressure in the region of one's collar brass --- just saying).

Good and bad, and a lil sticky.
I Love these on my leather wide brim hat. None of my pins have ever gotten lost and the backs do not come off!The pins on my shoulder bag though, these work so well that if the edge of the front of the pin gets snagged and you don't pay attention, the decal/artwork/pinface? Come right off while the pin stays stugg in the backing still. Working a bit too well.On my work sweater the rubber catches and I have to be careful not to break my name tag and such - but no metal poking my chest is very nice.So they work very well, sometimes too well & the rubber grips clothing just as well. Enjoy.

They stay on and don’t work themselves loose.
To date I have only used these for for 1 week. So far I love them, I have tried quite a few different pin backs and so far these work the best. Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury to wear utility uniforms where my name is embroidered, I have to wear class A’s every day, 12 hours a day. So far these keep my name tag stays where it is supposed to, and doesn’t begin to fall off. My only complaint is that they are a little thick and cause the uniform to raise a bit, however they have to be pretty thick to cover the whole pin. I definitely recommend these.

They work flawlessly
I was a little concerned that they might not fit from reading some of the reviews. I bought them to replace the broken pin back that went with the "Star Trek Starfleet Command Division Badge Prop Replica" I got for Christmas. One of the original metal pins broke after less than 12 hours wear time, plus the metal does not feel pleasant against my chest. I ordered them on the 2nd of January and received them on the 6th. I have worn them for 10 work nights, minimum 8 hours a night, and have never had one come loose or fall off. I would describe the fit as snug, but not tight. I am not doing high intensity cardio at work, but it is most certainly not a desk job-moving and around all night. I would recommend these. Should one rubber back somehow get lost I have 48 more backups.

50!
I bought these for a pin that lost it's backing and I did not want to go the pencil eraser route to secure the pin back on to my lanyard. I am an art history instructor, I am aloud to geek out with art history inspired pins ;) For a low price I got 50! So if I ever run into this problem again, I have extras! I have replaced all of my pins with the metal backs with these rubber ones and I feel like the rubber ones are more secure and friendly in comparison. They will not catch to clothing or complicate life--the metal ones require you to pin on simutaneously and well, I like the simple things to remain simple.

So much more comfortable than the metal backs especially for pin that go in your cover or hat
So much more comfortable than the metal backs especially for pin that go in your cover or hat. Only downside is that if you frequently are replacing your pins, these backings will wear out over time. I highly recommend this product.

These little things stay put
I was having pins pop off my tie because the metal retainers were not holding a good grip. But these rubber ones slip on snug and hold tight. Plus if you bump into something the rubber provides a bit of cushion, you won't get stabbed by the metal of the old style retainers.
