StarrettSteel Combination Square with Square and Center Heads - 12" Blade Length, Forged and Hardened Steel Heads, Scriber, Spirit Level, 4R Graduation Type - C33HC-12-4R

I am a mechanical engineer and a hobbyist machinist, so I look at measurements all the time. In my opinion, this is the solidest, most accurate combination square out there. There are several that are close, but this one has just a little better "feel" when you tighten up the screws - the heads are a closer fit to the blade, so even before you tighten the screw it feels better. Add to those points that (to my knowledge) this is the only combination square offered with forged steel heads, and it is just the best. I did not buy the combo with the protractor, if I need that I will buy it separately, but I have worked with them and they are of the same quality - I just could not see spending $100 or so on something I don't personally use very often.

Starrett is the gold standard for quality, so I expected it to be both accurate and well-machined. Expectations met.

Increased accuracy, smooth operation and sturdy construction made this a wise investment. It shipped in a cardboard box, I will need to make a sturdy wooden case for its storage.

A excellent combination square. This quality measurement tool is accurate and easy to use. It makes setup and layoutextremely easy.

Has pits in center slide notch in scale. For that much money you should get nothing short of perfection, especially from starrett. Disappointed.

I was so impressed with the quality and the functionality of this tool (instrument) in my day-to-day use in my woodworking shop that I bought similar instruments for my son and my grandsons.
