Worth the price if you have the chops to play well
I'm leaving this comment for the A string as well as the D string I purchased. These things are incredible. Some people say they don't need time to set in. Those people are incorrect. When First putting this on they will have a very soft, muted tone to them. I was actually worried that I hadn't gotten my money's worth. Then about a week later I played a warm up scale and it was like I was playing on an entirely different instrument. The tone becomes very bright and clear while still allowing enough warmth to sing. These are excellent strings, but the player must know how to play well in order for them to truly shine. If you are a beginner or are a less skilled intermediate player, I'd suggest you save your money until you are a more experienced intermediate player or an advanced player

Larsen Strings
I bought these along with the Larsen Magnacore G and C strings. In my opinion the Magnacore strings are actually worth the fortune they cost - an incredibly warm sound, very quick response, and they have the seemingly unique quality of being able initiate a sound at pianissimo. This allows some things that were not possible before: for example, playing the pedal tones of Bach 1st Suite piano or pianissimo. As I played I thought this must have been a possibility with original gut strings and lower bridge of a Baroque instrument, as it sounds so correct to me. The Larsen A and D are a very good match for the Magnacores, and it makes it much easier to play and keep the same sound quality when doing a lot of string crossings. The feel is a little more rubbery than I am accustomed to, but it is worth making the adaptation.I think these strings are the new standard.

Almost a 5 star purchase experience...
Generic picture shows "soft" steel. But it's actually "Medium" which is what the description says. They should use the correct photo to minimize any possible confusion. Item shipped is the correct one I wanted (medium).

If you are going to get a Larsen A and D, get the soloist. I had the regular Larsen A and D, but the sound for the soloist is noticeably better. Save yourself a few dollars and just get them to begin with.

Sounds great, but has already gone false
Sounds great, but has already gone false. For 40+$ I'd really like to get more than 2 months out of a string.

A good quality string
As known, I like how it sounds. Has a bright tone, loud, crisp. It is really popular so I see now why.
