ESSENSON Outdoor Explorer Kit & Bug Catcher Kit

Purchased for Easter and my child has been obsessed since. We use it every spring and summer. Great quality as well. We were gifted another set shortly after and this one was the better quality set so we regifted that one. Perfect for the curious kiddo in your life!

Purchased this for my grandson's 4th Birthday and he loved it! Very happy with the quality and affordable price. I like that the flashlight is hand squeeze, no batteries. Unfortunately the bug catching tongs were dropped on the floor (by me) soon after he opened the gift and the plastic piece broke off at the joint and they wouldn't stay together. But, no worries, I hopped on Amazon and ordered a replacement (pictured below) and was very happy with the quality of that product. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this kit if you have a curious 4 year old.

My 2 yr old LOVES this! But it could be given to older kids, too. I could see 8-10 yr olds playing with this. It was a Christmas gift. There are so many pieces that can be played with for years to come. We collect stink bugs in the specimen jars. The hat is a little big now, but he will grow into it. I was really excited to find this kit and can’t wait for spring, when we can go outside and really explore! The larger specimen jar is little thin. It cracked when my husband accidentally squeezed it too hard. I just slapped some packing tape on it. Good as new. I haven’t looked yet but it woukd be nice if they sell individual replacement parts.

My son Was super excited to get this set. He's been using it everyday. He loves that he can look at the bugs up close with the magnifying glass and in the little container with the magnifying lid. A few negatives, the net it comes with is tiny. My fault for not taking a closer look and seeing how small it would be. But you can't really catch anything with it, especially bigger butterflies and dragonflies. I ended up buying him a bigger net that's much better. The weird tong bug catching tool is super flimsy and fell apart after just 3 days... I keep having to snap it back together which is somewhat annoying. The carrying case to hold the bugs in is great, but the door to it doesn't latch well and opens easily letting bugs escape. The hat it comes with fits my son but the elastic string on it is huge, doesn't adjust and gets in his way while he's running around and it bugs him and he takes it off. All in all, it's a cute set and my son still enjoys using it. I paid almost $40 for it including shipping and I feel like it could be a little better made for that price. But it is for kids, so there's that.

My young great grandchildren loved the explorer kit! The magnifying glass and binoculars were their favorites.

Our 9 year old is quite the little bug expert and I was tired of him stealing my plastic ware for various bug habitats so we decided to get this for him. It comes in a very nice drawstring bag that I like a lot because it keeps everything together. The habitat and jars are also nice, and the explorer hat fits him nicely which I was pleasantly surprised about because I expected it to be on the small side and it was not, and he really likes it. The compass didn’t work from day 1 which isn’t big deal to him but don’t have high expectations for it at all because it seems like something from the dollar store quality wise. The flashlight also stopped working pretty quickly. Again not a big deal as he mostly wanted the containers and bug grabber (which is super cool by the way) and we have other flashlights but the quality of those 2 items could definitely be improved upon. Overall would buy again.

My kids loved this!

This is a cute gift with fun little trinkets that kept my child entertained for hours. The quality of the different items is low, and could easily break. That being said the variety of items is nice. My only big complaint is the quality of the bag that came with it. It has started to come apart with very little use. My child hasn’t played with it and I have only ever used it to store all the little trinkets and tools. It would be nice to have a higher quality bag that could fit and store all of the toys that come with it.
