Great taste, creamy texture
I liked the taste, texture and light saltiness. The pressed cod roe can be used as snack or appetizer on the cracker or ryes bread toast with a slice of pickle. Little expensive though.

WTF
WTF is this! Bought many cans over the years, including from Amazon, and hitherto exactly the same as bought in UK before we immigrating to the US. Has been unavailable for a year or so, so being overjoyed to see it available and bought it again. Normally would have bought 4, 6, 8 cans but as the price was ridiculously high (thankfully) bought just one. Today, we starred it our favorite recipe for it and is was absolutely aweful! Wet, soggy, and devoid of texture and taste that we have enjoyed over 40 years. WILL NEVER BUY IT AGAIN.

Don't let the can turn you off this cod roe is yummy especially on a sandwich
So I have to admit that the can itself left a lot to be desired with its World War 2 presentation. I quickly gave up on the key - lock tab opening. I was going to take a quick taste and chuck (that is how low my expectations were) And the first tiny bite was uneventful and then I remembered that a reviewer had mentioned a small squeeze of lemon. I am not quite sure what happened after my second pressed cod roe sandwich but I do remember thinking I need another can of this stuff....Sadly it is to expensive for more frequent sandwich's but this stuff is really good

Not what I expected but it worked :)
I bought this to make tarako spaghetti. At first I wasn’t sure if it was going to work - it didn’t taste salty enough, the color was not as pink and the texture out of the can was like pate. After a lot of stirring and pressing to break it up in the sauce, the flavor works just fine. The can is a good size so I froze most of it in a small glass jar - I didn’t want it to go bad as it says on the can it only lasts about two days in the fridge.

Not as I expected for my recipe
It wasn't what i expected based on positive reviews, in order to make a taramasalata. Cod roes are extremely small and felt in the mouth as a powder of crumbs. The next time I will pay more on a Greek taramasalata.

Make sure you slice thin slices before frying.
This stuff can't be found anywhere in the USA and I MISS HAVING IT SINCE I LEFT CANADA IN THE 90'S!!!!! It's truly a northlanders caviar.

not worth it
I got it to attempt taramosalata since the regular brand I used to buy is no longer available on Amazon. When mixed, It barely resembles the taste of taramosalata. Sorry to say it is a waste of money- not enough salt was added so no way to preserve past a few days in the fridge (it gets moldy fast).

Excatly what I expected.
I grew up eating cod roe on the europeean dark bread - Squeeze a lemon on top and you have a healthy lunch. This WILL be my last one because I am NOT willing to pay this price for a lunch I make myself lol --- wahhhhhhhh
